Now I have a new problem, I still havent been able to fuuly enjoy my new motor!!

My chain keeps braking where you put them together, ( sorry
for the explanation) forgot what its called. Any ideas why??
I have great torque now but I know its not enough to break the chain 4 times in 45 min.

Thanks for the replies. I found the problem, it was a washer between the sprocket and driven. Chain was rubbing the washer.

nothing wrong with master links if you don't screw up when you put them on (don't know how you could but some manage to)

I think the only real weakness in high quality masterlinks is if the link-clip side of the chain scrapes/grinds up against something like a big rock or meyby "a washer between the sprocket and driven" for instance, you'd be more apt to dislodge that link-clip than grind down any of the chains link pins to the point of failure. (even if the masterlink clip was instaled in the corect direction)

Well I'm throwing 50hp through a master link (a clip link, as opposed to a rivet master link), no idea if the "closed end" is facing the direction of travel. No probs at all.

But chain breakers are so much more of a pain in the ***, they require waaay more work to take the pin out, and masterlinks require only a small philips screwdriver, and some common sense. ie: flip the chain to the other side... so the master link doesnt hit the washer.

You'd probably find that after you've used a high quality brand of chain breaker a few times you'd get prety quick, and the only thing you'd realy need to make sure of of is getting 2 ends of that chain pin perfectly centered during re-installation, and then also making sure the link is back together snugly but not binding up.

Well, to each his own. I'm just used to the whole master link deal on my dirtbike, so I just like it better than when I take the chain off of my bicycle.
