Do not put seatbelts in that thing! In a roll over he will break his neck! As it sits now he will just break both legs very badly. Those bars above his legs will not let him safely eject in an accident. He will get hurt. I’m ashamed at you guys for not pointing it out to him sooner! While the kart looks very cool it is unsafe with that shopping kart on there like that! But it can be made safe and still keep the shopping kart.
Now for your other little problem. I prefer spacers over the axle to keep everything centered. Are you sure all your sprockets and chain matches?

Thanks for the reply. My son will never be riding this without supervision. It will not be driven on anything other than pavement. Its very heavy and has a extremely low center of gravity and the width in nuts, roll over would be crazy to do. Anything is possible of course. And these are the items im using. All #35. 10T motor sproket and the bmi 2 piece # 35 axle sproket

speaking of rolling witout seat belts, i have a gocart that has half a roll cage above the engine thats taller than my head sits, i rolled the go cart going around 30mph, i didnt have a seat belt installed so it through me out of it as it tumbled down the road, the roll bar was bent badly and when i got back in it the roll bar was so bent out of shape my head sat about 6 inches above it, when using a roll cage MAKE SURE ITS SOLID AND WELL DESIGNED it does not take much to bend metal, i am lucky to have been thrown out, i had planned on installing a seat belt but luckily my lazieness saved me, be carful with design

In a split second anything can go wrong. I just do not want anything to happen to a kid that will effect him throughout his whole life. Looking cool is ok, but safety should also play a big part because then you get to look cool for a long time. And don’t fool yourself it can be rolled over. Take it from someone who has had a broken neck. The after affects are no fun.
But, you are the parent not me. And you will get to take care of him for the rest of your life.
Now for the original problem. Seems you have everything all matched up properly if it was my kart I would add a crossmember at the back of the frame to keep it rigid and then add spacer tubes to the axle to keep it all in place. Does not need to be heavy walled pipe. Just enough to be rigid. Even plastic pvc pipe will work in a pinch. Just make sure it is snug not tight to the axle.

Denny, I did point it out way back in post #7. First thing I noticed when I looked at the picture.

Secondly, I'll tell myself you're just not finished with the build yet. Since that shopping cart could hinder your son from being thrown clear in a rollover (no seatbelt when there's no rollcage), I'll tell myself the rollcage and 4-point safety harness are your next step in the build.

Ntv03, it sounds like you know what you have there, but I just want to say that all of the CVT kits like that one that I've known about came with a 12-tooth #35 drive sprocket, and a 10-tooth #40 or #41 drive sprocket. If you're going to use a 10-tooth like you said, I hope you've made sure it's actually a #35 instead of the usual #40 or #41.
