How important is sizing the port on a carb to the port in the motor? I would think the carb would work if port was larger, or smaller. Just how well it works is another matter. I would suspect that larger is better. I ask this because I turned a vert. shaft B&S up on end yesterday, and had to build an adaptor plate to remount carb. I have done away with governor, and can attach throttle and choke as required. The factory carb that came on the engine is nasty, but rebuildible. But, I have a brand new carb for another motor, make and model unknown. It would be very simple to retap the adaptor plate for this carb. I would think it would work, but how well??? For my application, adequate would suffice.
