If your carb has a steel spiral in the bore, remove it. Also, you can grind down the butterfly stop slightly to allow the throttle to open completely. There are some other mods, but they are kind of complicated and easy to screw up.

Hey Tyler, what type of jet/pilot would I need? Temps from 30-100F.

Dont forget about air bleed and what altitude. Cant realy tell you exactly what work's for you, But it seem's 130 main work's for alot of people. 22 mm comes stock with a 95 main or so.

ALLRIGHT, Tyler! You....FORCED me to do this!......

Heh, heh!

Seriously though, in that 5hp B/S build up article, the carb-blueprinting didn't really make a whole lotta difference until a lot of other areas were addressed. BradenM's idea of concentrating on the exhaust end seems like the cheap productive way to go, and Oscaryu1's idea of a Tilly is good because it's not as boggy as a B/S carb. A mikuni would be slick, just because the quality of carburation is so much better than a B/S, all other things being equal.

I'd love to see someone step-by-step a B/S 8hp motor. Truly a monster. (Too bad about the 1" shaft/expensive clutch thing, though.)
