same as with any other engine, remove the sidecover, take out governor gear and arm, plug up hole, rig throttle linkage.

You might be able to i would try giving them a call if you have the information at hand. mcmaster car is pretty much one of the places i deal with on a regular basis for tractor parts. and other things.

well, I was able to cancel one sprocket off that orded. so I hav one from each place comming. I decided to go with this 11 on clutch, to a 21, then a 28 to a 54 on axle... it probable wont have much take of but I would think it would be good for crusing. i hope what do you guys think??

Yea i would always shop around before ordering. especially sprockets, there are MANY sites, we have them listed on this site, that carry great priced parts.

well I was wondering ...how much torqu do you guys think this gear ratio would have with a 2.5hp? do you think it would be a slow take off or some kick??

Thats too high of a ratio for such a tiny engine. thats only a 3.68:1 ratio. I would aim for at the very least a 4.5:1 ratio, which will still be somewhat sluggish on the takeoff depending on the rider. 5:1 with an ungoverned engine will still get you going almost 30mph.

shoot ...well I know that I cant change the sprocket on the axle 54t 41p and I cant change the clutch sprocket 11t 35p so what gears would I need for a 5:1 ratio or close? What equation do I use to figure in the ratio??

basically you calculate a gear ratio by dividing your driven sprocket or pulley size by the drive pulley or sprocket.

(((the driven sprocket or pulley is the sprocket/pulley that is not connected to your power source, either on a jackshaft, axle, or input to transmission, the drive is the one that is directly on the engine shaft, or other source of power)))

So for example, you have a 12tooth engine sprocket and 72tooth sprocket on your jackshaft, 72/12= 6 thats a 6:1 ratio meaning your engine will spin 6 times for every one time your jackshaft spins. Say you have a 10" pulley on your jackshaft, that runs to a 30" pulley on your axle, 30/10=3 thats a 3:1 ratio. Now to figure out what the overall ratio is, you simply multiply, 3:1x6:1= 9:1 ratio from engine to axle.

A lower gear ratio will give you more torque, but less speed, where as a higher gear ratio is the exact opposite. A 9:1 ratio will give you much higher torque, pulling power, and takeoff but a much lower top speed.

Get out a calculator and play with your ratios, with such a small engine 35p chain all around would be fine.
