Caliper bracket

I'm getting a mechanical disk brake setup for my kart to replace the ol band brake. I have to do a frame mod to put it in, so I'll have a welder on site.

I have a Carlisle brand caliper that I bought from BMI karts.

What bracket is the right one for this caliper?

Just have the "Welder" fab one up for ya? If buy one,you are going tweek it a bit to fit.

No I mean I'm going to have a welder, meaning a actual welding machine... The people "welders" will be me and my friend, both with just enough welding experience to keep us from hurting ourselves. I think I'll just buy one.

Try something like I did. I used 2 pieces of either 3/16" or 1/4" flat iron with holes drilled to that the caliper would rest at an angle and grab perfectly.

Do you use the two bolts at the top of the caliper to hold it onto the bracket?

You can. I believe there is a bracket available that grabs the caiper by the two slots on it, and allows it to float.

I have that brake caliper, and having it float would be better since one of the pads does not move relative to the caliper. You would get the best braking if you let it float. The brake rotor will keep it on the mount.

not too tough to make, a hand drill, some flat bar, and a hack saw will get the job done.

This is a good point, I think you should go with the actual one. But for mine, I just found 2 bolts about half an inch or so longer and slid them through. Mine still has some good stopping power and can squeal the tires when locked up.
