I figured why not. I'm going for a mini buggy with full suspension and a motorcycle engine. Here is what i'm starting with.

Day 1 in the books. Got the main frame all welded up. Just have to hit all the welds with a flapper disk to make it purty...

your frame looks very nice but there is no triangulation. no doubt your welds are sturdy, but your boxes without bracing could be susceptible to folding house of cards style. perhaps you are planning on adding bracing when you add and design suspension... either way make sure to design triangular braces into your design for maximum strength.

Oh i'm going to triangulate, just ran out of time is all. This all came together quick because it's the easy part. Now for the suspension and steering it's going to take significantly longer. Not to mention I haven't even found a motor yet so I cant design and build the mounts for that.

No sweat- I needed a laugh too. Rough day.

Man, I can't wait to see what you put together, there. Looks like a real beast in the making. Are you doing this by the seat of your pants, or do you have a set of plans?

A little bit of both. I have rough plans but I usually wind up changing a lot as i'm building.

Did some work on the swing arm. I may shorten it depending on whether or not I mount the engine on or above the swing arm.

With the help from this board, I've decided to mount the motor above the swingarm. Today I got the shelf build along with started the engine mounts. This is how she sits now. Since I'm no longer mounting the engine on the swing arm, I need to shorten it by about 13".

It might be better if you drop that engine mount down so it 's about 6" above the swing arm.

Right now it is about 11" above the swing arm. According to my measurements, I will be able to fit a 15" shock. If I lower it, how much suspension travel am I going to have with a 10" shock? Won't it be a much stiffer ride?

And the reason for moving it above is for better suspension response.
