so i got this mini chopper frame plus 60$. traded my 9hp engine for it. i got a lifan 125cc engine im putting on it after i beef up the frame a bit so it dont go collapsing from the power. lol. i had gotten a carb. for it but then the flange on it broke so im going to exchange it for another one. i still have to get a rear sprocket, chain, CDI, ignition coil, and wire harness. i also have to extend the shifter linkage so i can shift at full front instead of the middle. i might just make it a hand shifter.

i got the sprockets welded together. not the best of welds holds strong from what i can tell. but im going to be putting grade 8 bolts through the outer 4 holes in the sprockets. also not the best of holes either. the first 3 are before pictures.

are these welds better? lol i know they are. but how much better? would they actually hold up to a lifan 125cc putting out about 9hp? i know the hp dont matter. but the torque does.

specs taken from pccmotors:

Valve Sizes: 27mm intake, 23mm exhaust
Displacement: 123.7cc
Compression Ratio: 9.47:1
Carburettor: 22mm racing carburetor
Ignition: CDI, 12 volt, permanent magnetic stator
Maximum Power: 8.5 Kw DIN @ 9,500 rpm
Rated Power: 6.5 Kw @ 7,500 rpm
Torque: at least 8.8 Nm @ 5,500 rpm
Gears: 4-speed, manual clutch, all new 4 up system.
Gear Ratios: 1st 2.833:1, 2nd 1.706:1, 3rd 1.238:1, 4th 0.958:1
Final Drive: 14 tooth #420 front sprocket included
Lubrication: 1.1 litres, 5W/40 4-stroke motorcycle oil, pressure and splash
Fuel: Unleaded

so would the welds hold up? i mean do they look they would?

Looking good, earlier I had wanted to put one of the 125cc lifans on a minibike. I never did because I already have an engine that works.

Those welds should be good now. Is there any reason that you didn't lay a bead all the way round? I am just asking. Are you also sure that nothing has warped from the heat and the sprocket still runs true?

yes sprocket still runs true. didn't lay a bead all the way around because i don't have a drill bit to drill out the inside bolt holes. those are the main holes im using. sprocket is out of alignment by 1mm. shouldn't damage the chain or anything. by alignment i mean like not completely centered on the hub. but if its just about 1mm it shouldnt damage anything right?
