Got the front shocks mounted. I used 1/4" plates notched the frame, slid in the plates, tacked and drilled. Sounds quick and easy.... well it is not. The first side took 2hours but the second side only took 30min. But anyway I like the way it sits up front now with 11.5" of ground clearance. I just need to add two more little support tubes to help with all the stress from the shocks.

Alright so I took a tiny step back on the steering because I just did not like the way I had it set up so I went and cut off the two tabs holding the steering wheel shaft and replaced those crappy plastic bushings with some 5/8 heims. The nice part is I can adjust the angle and height of the wheel if I ever need to.

I also started work on the rest of the steering. All I really did was mount the rack. But if anybody is familiar with the yerfdog racks you would know that they are acctually really strong and well built but the biggest problem with them is mounting. As tight as you make the bolts fastening it down it always finds a way to twist, and so I just drilled holes mounted it on a 1/4" plate then used some scrap to lock it into place.

Welded that plate on the frame and I am happy so far with this set up. The best feature is everything is very compact but comfortable.

I finally got the steering together! So first I had to extend the rack and make my own clevis for each extension.

Then I bolted on my 1/2" reverse thread heims and welded up the arms. I tried my best to keep everything in line and I succeeded in no bumpsteer!!!

Im very happy with how this all turned out! It is nice and compact and also everything is very easy to adjust. Only thing im not very proud of is the reverse ackermann steering but other than that its an A+ in my book.

If you don't like the reverse ackermann, is it possible to reverse the hubs (as in switch sides) or would that create clearance issues?

**PLEASE READ** Before I show you guys my update I want to tell everyone in advance that I am very sorry about the pics. I dropped my iphone and the camera cracked so everything is blury. Im sorry will have it fixed!

So anyway I sent in my sprocket to the machine shop to have a shaft made to go from the engine to the main axle. Then I decided to go ahead and start chopping up the quad frame. It is acctually looking to be working out just as I had planed. But nothing will be welded until I get my special jackshaft made to ensure all the chains line up. I get one chance at this and im not looking to blow it.. On to my $hitty pics...

PICS OF WHAT THE SHAFT SHOULD LOOK LIKE:

Well i cant really do much until that shaft is made so I've been sort of bumming around and decided to take the rear axle off the swwingarm of the quad. It still needs to be cut in half and machined to 1" with and 1/4" keyway but I lined everything up and this is what the "stance" should look like.

And so far my favorite picture of the build!

That looks great, and those tires are the ones was looking at for mine, lol.

The fronts are pretty good but the back really kind of suck, really poor traction everywhere honestly I have noticed that holeshot tires (in the rear) work best in any terrain

Still waiting on the shaft to be made, I took a trip to autozone to get an ignition and toggle switch. I then built a little dashboard for the N,R,and overheat light. If you look closely youll see the overheat light is kind of hidden by the steering wheel but i really could care less because I dont really need it and you will all see why soon!

Hey everyone I got a bit of an update for you guys. Well the kfx 400 will not run without the factory headlight. I dont know why but ive tried everything to bypass it with no luck. In the end I just took out the saws all and cut the highbeam housing off (smaller light) and mounted it right on the buggy. I then took some old foglights i had laying around and put those on aswell for highbeam.

LOW BEAM

HIGH BEAM

I also got an early birthday present from the girlfriend and let me tell you its awesome! Its a trail tech vapor! To mount it I just built an identical "dash" to the one I built before and simply drilled some holes and bam all together in 45 minutes.

I also dug up some old side mirrors I had in the parts bin. They seem like some sportscar replica ebay mirrors but hey they work fine on a buggy. They also have led side markers on them that i wired up to the high beam.

And this is the mess of wires im left with... But i have finally got almost everything wired so next time im out in the garage im just gonna clean them up and have everything nice and neat.

I also scored on an awesome custom made battery tray. Saved me lots of work and I would never be able to make something this nice.

Well as you can tell I have worked alot on this thing today. 8 hours to be exact but I wont have an update in a few days because im getting my wisdom teeth out 6/12 so hopefully I recover quickly and get back to the shop!

Buggy really looks great, it's got me itching to get started on mine. Hope you have a fast recovery, a guy in my class was back to eating solid food after a few days but my cousin took almost a month for her's to heal.
