depends how good or bad the welds are

a good welder should be able to cut a peice of metal in half and re weld it to be stronger that before

u better get a pic of that

Well ill post some more pictures tomorrow but to answer all your questions the main chassis is but welded but there will be many more supports i have some14ga sheet to strengthen the motor mount (which will be directly behind the driver) and i do have a flat glass table that everything has been cut and welded on ill post a picture of that aswell tomorrow.

depends how muck more frame work u are adding

if u are adding more support and an upper rail then i wouldnt bother on this scale

just turn the heat up a little for the rest

yeah

to me the weld is being layed on top not penetrating

haveing a look at the above pic the welded rails are the top rails
didnt see that

side note
i rekon there should be a facepalm smiley

butt weld 2 pieces of flat stock, put it in a vise and see where they brake. If it's not on the weld then you are ok.

the plans call for some diagonal bracing im not doing that until the end because its not completely necessary at the moment

i cant really turn up the heat on my welder because it has four settings for it im welding on two and its easily burning holes through

So here's what got done today i built the swing arm and started bracing!

That is looking real nice. What machine are you using? I'm sort of in the market for a new welder.

nm, I found a pic of it in the first post. Are you using shielding gas, or just running it with flux core wire?

hey, i really like that idea that you have with using the forks for shocks. Do you think that this same concept could be applied and used with mountain bike forks?

Im using a 135 amp fluxcore/MIG northern industrial welder with .30 fluxcore wire because i cant afford the gas container yet haha

yeah it would basically be the same thing but you need to make sure they can still pivot(that means pressing bearings into the bolt holes because when the shock compresses the angle of the connections change if it was all locked together it probably wouldnt move much if any
