Hello I know briggs and hondas are sone of the best but I was wondering what you guys think about Tecumseh seeing as there are a ton of them (ohv) for sale locally let me know about reliability

Tecumseh engines can be great engines if you take care of them well (as with any engine). I will add that the flat-heads seem to be a bit better than the OHV models (quite frankly it seems the carbs are very temperamental). If you can get a correctly sized engine that is in decent shape at the right price I'm sure you would be happy.

I love Tecumseh, Briggs, and Honda. If I had a lot of money, I'd buy a briggs racer, but Tecumseh is a cheaper way to go if you are looking for a powerful engine. I have a 5.5HP Tecumseh OHV SnowKing, good engine, cheap, and runs amazing. The only problem is that it is a step shaft. Minor issue, but I used a homemade shaft adapter so that I could put my clutch on.

Ok what about tecumseh MTD is MTD just the ccompany or engine type

MTD is a company that build machines like lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc. Tecumseh MTD is just classifying that the MTD machine is using a Tecumseh engine.

The first one probably has a good engine (check that it runs and has a 3/4" to 1" keyed straight shaft). The second has a tapered shaft which would need to be removed and turned down by a machine shop, or get a replacement shaft; then you would still need an expensive clutch. The third is a bit of a gamble, but if the price is right for you and your willing to possibly pay a little extra in repairs for a learning experience (engine could be trash...) I would go for it.

EDIT: if you are in the $200 range for an engine... look into Robin Subaru, excellent engines that (in my opinion) meet or exceed Honda in everything but hop-up parts availability.

Ok I would like more hp but I know it wouldn't make much of a different I'll ask about the first one and what would be good hp for some one who weighs 180 plus a 100-130 lb kart in a slight hilly neighborhood

The third engine, you might as well leave that outta the picture because it sounds like its ready to blow a head gasket. Offer the guy $150 for the first motor and he'll probly take it.
