So jt comments will be plentiful but here is my little briggs build gonna open er up and check everything out. So first of all I love the color idea just not a very good execution. I have a replacement rope handle carb and tank and a straight pipe I'm going to modify. The clutch is stuck but I'm gonna remove it and I'm doing all the budget performance hacks I can do. I may remove the governor but I am saving up for a rod like jt did and i will be putting a slide carb on it.

Would this be the 5 HP from the mystery bodied kart?
If so, I agree that I like the color scheme, but yes, poor execution.
Better put some pics up! I want to see some more details of it! Also good for reference, because I know what it looks like, but other people don't.
I'm curious to see the bore. Steel or aluminum? Scored, rusted, or clean? We won't know until you open it up! As long as I can see the clean top of the piston I'll be able to tell you what the bore material is, providing the PO hasn't stuck the wrong piston in it.
And yes, I will be lurking. :D:D:D

Ok could use a hone only one deep scratch I could just barely feel on the cylinder but it's much better then my other one ill have to remove the head gasket it's destroyed and a head bolt broke on its way out but I can remove it. Good thing I never ran it the inside was fithy. This one is a good candidate for building so it's gonna be a high compression monster also I may or may not test it on alcohol. Lol
And yes jt it's from the mystery manco bodied kart which I sold the frame here's pictures and stuff of the piston and cylinder ill throw some of cover and block numbers if I can find some.
Cover
Model: 130202
Type:3010 01
code:88022007

Yeah, clean out that cylinder before you even turn it over. I'm dead serious, that junk could cause scoring. That sucks that a head bolt broke, but oh well. I soaked the sidecover and head bolts in PB Blaster for a few weeks before I even tried removing them. Those pictures are kinda blurry(not to mention sideways;)), but it's still better than nuthin'!

Code breakdown(from memory, I'm a nerd):
13 Ci of displacement
0 Basic design series
2 Horizontal shaft, Pulsa-Jet, mechanical governor
0 Plain bearing, non-DU flange mount(the crankshaft just rides on the block and sidecover)
2 Rewind starter

And it was built on February 20, 1988.

All the other numbers are irrelevant.
What's the bore material?

WHOA!
Look at this! This is the parts manual of your engine! It shows DUAL. BALL. BEARINGS!
That may be a mistake, I'm not sure, because the code says plain bearings, but the diagram shows ball bearings. You'll have to pull it apart to find out.
The parts numbers also suggest a Cobalite exhaust valve like mine! Clean the exhaust valve face off and let me know if you find any letters on it.
And WHAAAAAT??? The piston part number is the same for our engines! YOU HAVE A STEEL BORE!!!
Do NOT throw that engine out! It's a good one!:cheers2:
On the same topic it looks like my tiller has a steel bore......:wai:

Even if it's not original, the fact that the parts diagram shows that for that code is very strange.
Post up some pics of the inside of the crankcase!

I will because I have to buy my old green one back now because my dad chewed the block up trying to remove the stuck head bolt so I'm gonna just have to use the old block

I recomend that you get an intake from Studz racing. You can use a Briggs one but you will have to modify the carb to fit.

Post some pics of the said carnage.....:(
It may be saveable, you may be able to deck the block. Or maybe even fill it in with solder and file it flat.
As for the still remaining broken head bolt, soak it in PB Blaster for about a week, reapplying every day.

Well my dad ruined the block while removing the stuck head bolt I may have to buy a new crank too because my dad chopped that too I tried to do it myself but he booted me out of the way thinking he knew what he was doing ill post pics of the carnage after school tommrow. but I bought this for the block and head because I know it has a chance of survival. A good hone I think the green briggs might be saved but the other can't sadly I'm parting it out. If anyone needs anything exept the crank and rod ill sell you them cheap pm me but for now I'll store the parts.
EDIT: ill also be making a intake for one of the two but it will be from scrap and it's not a hard thing to do also I might be able to fix the block doing what jt said but I'm not entirely sure I can save the poor thing. And the green one runs and is already straight piped. And a crank is 20$ so I can build a Franken briggs
