...sloppy steering if you use eye bolts for the tie rod ends. Also did you get those front wheels at princes auto 3/4 bore with a brass grease stud on them? If so how are they working out? mine the rims where bent like crazy and they where all like that.
I got the tires at Harbor Freight and they work fine, they dont have grease points though. But a great deal at $9 a pop. We don't have princess auto out here, ive heard of it but never seen it. They are also 5/8 inch. I needed to save $ on those as I think I need to spend $60 on my drive wheels. (16" trailer tires) They work great though. The steering is actually very true! I am trying to really more or less mock up that stuff right now, when I get it moving and I know it will work I will go back and replace the paddle on the steering coloumn with an oval, get new threaded rod, and finish them off with those eye bearing doodads. I also have the engine on and a mocked up rear axle and rolled down the hill with it on idle, MAN DOES IT VIBRATE! LOL! Gonna need 2 work on that.
Looks good! Mind if I "use" your plans for a future build of mine? (Whenever I getta budget from my parents...a welder... sander... dremel...)

Yeah sure, If you want I have the full size "blue prints" on a piece of cardboard that if you pick up shipping (like $2-$5) I'll send them to you. And then help you the rest of the way, but idk if it's gonna work yet so just keep that in mind you are not getting a 100% sure thing. And I don't know when I will finish as I need to start saving my $ for paragliding. A $200 setback is a little much.
Yeah, I might just do as you did, but since I have a go kart similiar to that, I can just kinda copy the frame...

Actually I think the live axle is easier to do, you have alot more space to work with to attach brakes and gears. Just bolt/weld on some bearings (either pillow block or a live axle kit) put the axle through it (make sure you buy all of this as when you do everything fits together like a puzzle) and put some shaft collars on the axle on either side of the bearing to keep it from sliding back and forth. Then just mount brakes and drive train. Frame and steering is the hard part.
Ironman: the seat is made of 3/4" plywood hinged where the 2 pieces meet, and the rope keeps it from opening more and helps keep you from flying out sideways. Then it has fabric+thin foam stapled to it to pad it, really important on your spine if you don't
want to be in horrible horible pain. It also folds up, not that it does much on the kart to reduce size but it came from my old kite buggy which was a really nice feature.
