Briggs 8hp clutch and pull start

I got this engine from a guy that says its a Briggs 8hp that needs a clutch and pull start. Does anyone know what size clutch I need for this or how to find out? I cant find a model number on it. Need to find out what kind of pull start I need also.

I do not know. How do I measure that? sorry I know nothing about this haha

You measure across the end of the shaft! Most likely it will be 5/8 or something close!

the shaft on the engine. take a ruler or measurer and on the end of the shaft measurer the width.

not on a 8hp briggs. more like 3/4in or 1in

well your missing the shroud. wich has the pull start on it. and the model.

good. makes your life alot easier. makes clutches cheaper. you should get a Torque converter.

you need to find the year of your engine first.

How do I figure out the year of my engine without a model #?

find a part on the engine get its part number and search the number and see what engine it said it was for. chances are it will tell the model.

Date code will be stamped into flywheel on inside back.

I will have to wait til friday to work on this when I get to my garage. Is the flywheel easy to get off?
