We do have a 10% off at GPS.
One thing I recently learned from BMI customer service, Is for shipping to be better; use the phone to order , their computer automatically uses standard shipping. They do try. But I believe that will save you the same 10% just in shipping.

The other thing is Bring it up to them, suggest they do it. I know they sell a buttload of parts to our forum members. 10% DIYGK coupon code.

I wonder if either of them do veteran discounts? That's a typical 10, sometimes 15% off. I didn't see anything on either site.

Yes.
BTW if you get Ripped off on BMI Shipping, You an Call or email. They charged me 12.90 for shipping and it showed up in a 5.95 USPS Flat rate box. They refunded the 7 bucks to my Card.
They also suggested calling in the order, the website is too Stupid to calculate USPS flat rate shipping.

Even though we discussed this last night, I'll say it here. They charged me $10.00 shipping for a $7.95 petcock.

I wrote them. We'll see, Chancer.

My main point was that I called them out on the fact that it arrived to me in a 5.95 Flat rate Box.

Well it is all a case of Buyer Beware!
I shop around read the reviews, and look for free shipping.
I can understand some Shipping in Cases of Ebay sellers and small Parts shops. It is definitely an expense for the seller. But it allows places like BMI and GoPowerSports.com To be nationwide suppliers very cool. and Gives us the availability of parts, that did not exist 15-20 years ago. BUTT...
Here is what kills me:

When a large retailer like Sears, Target and the like charge for Shipping. Lets think about that.
A. They would have had to PAY to ship it to their store.
B. PAY rent and Utilities on that store.
C. PAY employees to stock the store.
D. PAY to have a Clerk at the register.
E. PAY for theft Shoplifting and Pilferage

When Buying from a major Retailer that owns Stores in every town. We are actually Saving them Hundreds by Buying online where it ships Direct from their warhouse!!!
I never understood why people order from Target online and Pay shipping! As long as the consumer is that Dumb, We will continue to pay shipping.
rant over!

Northern Tool doesn't sell jack for Go kart stuff anymore like they did 10+ years ago. Outside of a few clutches, mini bike and go kart kits, they have nothing. Guess it wasn't popular enough. I use to be able to find parts no problem back then, but now you have to order online to get them.

Wish I had built my Kart a decade or longer ago at this rate. GPS doesn't have free shipping until you have over $200 being shipped out...kind of sucks. So kind of have to bulk buy with them.

Here's why the big box stores charge shipping:

When they ship to their own store, they fill a 53' semitrailer full of goods that are all going to one locale, if not just one store. So, warehouse loads pallets, store unloads pallets.

When they ship to an individual's address, they must break open that pallet, hand pack and label, and turn over to a carrier like UPS, FedEx or USPS, which in turn charges a standard rate, unless the big box store waits until they have enough shipments to essentially reserve an entire truck and get a bulk rate.

That is what is meant by 'shipping and handling'.

Amazon has automated this about as far as it can go with current technology, but still have their hands tied by the carrier's rates.

I buy and sell a fair amount online, I pretty much exclusively use USPS flat rate even though on smaller items I might be paying more. Why? Because I can price my items and say "this will be $XX.xx shipped" and not screw myself when the buyer is way on the other side of the country.

By 2020 Amazon is planning on having same day shipping so that may help with costs.

Your statements are partially true. But my wife ships UPS, and all she had to do was open an account and she got 40% off "standard rates".

I am pretty sure big retailers get a HUGE discount. But still the Shipping and handling is WAAAAAY cheaper than a brick and mortar establishment.

Call MFG supply too.
I invited them and the guy "Bob" I think started a user name here, But he did not want to just Pimp parts for personal Gain.
See if you can work on something with them all.

GPS has a good relationship here.

Also AGK they do their own build ups and How tos as well. Perfect fit.

Maybe stores should use Robert's pigeons??? They don't drink too much gasoline (unless they stop in Detroit) so it may be cheaper.
