Perhaps a genuine ARC rod is paramount, good insurance, but I’d feel comfortable using one of Edwin’s Scamazon $30.00 10K rpm flywheels for the 301. :worried2::cornut:

I wouldn't trust some Chinesium knock off, unless I had no choice. I'll take a namebrand with known quality control and quality assurance when it comes to billet components, especially when it comes to a flywheel magnet.

I wouldnt... Thats why I have a 1/4" shield protecting my pieces. I worry too much about the area, the "base" of the fins. Wouldnt take much porosity (because who knows what composition of metals) to have one let go.

Honestly, with the abuse Ive put that rod thru, Id trust the rod more. Just have to watch those bolts I guess.

When its all said and done, I dont trust either really. Id go ARC.

I saw the photos and I saw mine that I posted for the 212cc Derp, Ducar, Tillotson. The magnet is deeply embedded in the structure, not glued on as an afterthought per the factory cast iron Derp ‘wheels.

Let’s go over here https://www.diygokarts.com/community/threads/predator-212-gov-delete-support-mods.54704/page-2 and continue, or a better thread of your choosing.

❓

Looks spiffy: https://www.diygokarts.com/community/threads/25-99-10k-rpm-clone-flywheel.52424/
I’m cheap and DIYGK is pretty cheap, not buying ready-made go karts and stuff. It implies cost saving...

Get the thick heavy duty one. ( They might not come any other way ). The 301 is almost as heavy as the 420. More than double the small block.
The challenge will be to find one that mounts to the frame. My kart is a racing kart frame. We'll see. May have to fab one. Should be fun to have a big block screamer on it. 70 mph, here I come!
