well,
I just thought it would be a good thread to start. Lets see who is the best welder on here. Your welding can be any type on any material. What you need is a nice even bead and avoid contamination. Lemegacool has some lovely welds of cans, but this thread will be for welds of all material. Make sure you state what type of welder you used and the material. I will get up some of mine in a little while.

I really hope this thread does not die before it starts.

right time for some of my welds. Not my best i have got a bit rusty at it. I was using 6013 on the arc welder. I just really welded it up to see what thickness of steel i would use on my minibike.

for your 60** you need to group tighter... supposed to look like a roll of dimes

stick kinda sucks, but if i am welding anything that i want to be as strong as possible that's my preferred method

mig i can do pretty easy

tig i love to play with aluminum or steel (need to get more consistent)

well his welds look good, but it doesnt seem as though he isnt using the proper method

strike it, hold for 1 second, let up (without breaking arc) then as the puddle solidifies touch the rod down to the top of it, and repeat.
- or just weld the way you do, the strength is more than enough

Briggs, i have never heard of stick welding like that, that sounds more like tig/gas welding if anything, the "proper" way i was show is to strike the arc, and slowly move the rod in a zig zag pattern, while moving it in the direction you want your weld to be.

Kieren, i would say just move a bit slower, otherwise your bead looks ok.

how do you guys stay constant? i can't travel and stay constant with a stick worth a crap

right now i am working on a vertical t-joint 6010 at about 67-72 amps and i keep getting lumped up. my teacher likes the top ridges of the weld to be like 1/16" apart.

go slow and take your time and just relax and listen to the welding sparks and look at the weld you should be able to figure out by sound how the weld is doing.. with flux core i could tell when i was about to blow through cause the sound of the weld.. it sounds crazy but try to pay attention to that kinda thing.
