the 25lb was a bit of a joke, lol, i bet if i drilled a little hole in the back panel of the welder (i won't!) i could build a cart for the welder that had a big spindle in the back to hold a 25lb spool. i think i will buy a 10lb when i go to the store next.

Sounds good. BTW, you'll have to flip the big plastic washer thing (thats between the spool and retainer) around to fit the 10lb spool.

That is what I did to fit a 10lb spool on my HF flux core welder.

The more wire you can fit in it the better, in my opinion, any way possible.

Thanks devino, when i save up some extra dough, ima buy a bigger and longer cable, but i really need a bigger welder.

I got a question, Has anyone ever welded with this welder or thinks that it might be a good tig welder?

http://www.harborfreight.com/welding/tig-arc-welders/240-volt-inverter-arc-tig-welder-66787.html

No problem.

I have the old version of that welder. I mainly use it for arc, for which its works perfect. Ive only used the TIG enough to go thorough 3 small bottles of argon. Its DC, so it will only work for steel. Ive made some decent beads.

I appriate the opinion.

I am good with stick and mig but i wanna learn how to weld with tig but i don't know if it is worth the investment.

HF also offers a 700 dollar tig that i might get to learn.
It has digital display and all the fancy stuff.
It also has great reviews on it.

It's a big investment but i wanna learn how. Im only 16 but i can afford to lose some money to learn a little.

If I buy the good welder and learn on a good machine, it makes it easier down the road.

I know how cheap mig and stick welders weld. You get what you pay for.

Is buying a tig welder worth the money for good welds and good penatration?

I believe Bill CNC found a discontinued TIG at HF for $50 a few months back. If you want nice welds, go with shielded, solid wire MIG. I can't complain about the ones I've used. Both MM's. A MM140 which can handle like 1/4" tops and a MM 252 which has some punch. Up to 1/2" steel in one pass. And it easily handles 25lb spools. The school go it on a kart with an aluminum gun and wire and what not for $3100. Expensive but oh so pretty.

I can half way stick but I wouldn't trust it. And I suck at starting new rods. I usually just freeze the rods to the work, but when I don't, it looks half way decent.

That wire is more than twice the thickness you need. It wont work.
