b&s keeps stoping

No holes or tears I can see of. When I ran the engine, there was lots of B12 chemtool in it... dunno if that made a difference.

Now it's running on 93 (all I had ATM).

Typical popular Briggs 5HP. Take it off, replace the diaphram, and soak in acetone.

my uncle used to drive a ford taurus SHO. and it was recomended to run only 93 in it. BUT he found that running 87 or 89 octane gas made it run better. He assumed this was because most people dont buy 93 so it sits in the tank for a while and get old. He used to just put in some octane booster in the 87 to around 95 and it purrrrd like a kittin. and the car was fast as hell.

He's just saying if you're using 93 or so, switching to 87 or 89 could make a large difference.

Running anything in a stock industrial motor besides the cheapest gas you can find is stupid.

It's not all about timing. A higher octane in fuel should also be used in high comepression applications. If your engine is pinging or detonating you shouldnt just retard the timing to solve the probelem. A higher octane of fuel is the answer.

i had the exact same problem but today i got some carb cleaner cleaned out everything in the carb, now its working much better than before, i didn't replace the diaphragm since it had no holes.
