its a late 60's or early 70s. It would be fine on a kart. Only thing is those have annoying updraft carburetors. The butterfly on the carb is VERY playful and genneraly it is going to be little throttle or WOT. They are pretty inexpensive, i payed 60 for a rebuild kit and payed 30 for a valve job. Plus 15 for a hone tool. And 30 for a carb kit So your looking at $145 to do this. B4 you order anything, do a compression check, pull the head and check the valves and cylinder. Good Luck!

I cant find any numbers other than 52 on the flywheel. It had a sticker that stated the model and all the info but it is messed up beyond recognition :mad2: here are some more pics.Solomon-where did you get your parts for yours?I think this is a 190000 series engine of some sort.

It does have a 1" crankshaft. It has been sitting in a friends barn for awhile. My options for clutches are kinda limited for a 1" crank are they not? I have a 5hp briggs on the kart I am building and it has a 1" crank and the most I could find was cvts and the HD clutches.Take a look at what I am doing and feel free to comment on what I am doing, and this is my first go kart project I have taken on.It is for flat surfaces mostly.

The 5hp would be fine, If you are worried about prices on 1" TAV's and Clutches then buy a 3/4" crank for it, should be around $20. Also the 8hp Would give u ALOT more torque.

You shouldn't need bearings, and if your old seals don't leak they are fine, new ones are also cheap anyways (1" and 3/4" use same seal) Flywheel side is all the same. HERE is one i found real quick. Also your local mower shop has probably a bunch of em

I think the 8hp motor can withstand just over 5000 rpm, 5400RPM if i do recall correctly. My 5hp Governor removal Guide is the same, just avoid use of any silicone. As far as i know thier are no performance parts.

So how easy is it to over-speed these engines without the governor while under a load? I imagine some trouble would exist if the engine was suddenly subjected to a no-load situation while under throttle like a chain break or something. :stir:
