B/S 5 hp blowing oil thru the Carb

Hey guys, my grandson was ripping thru the yard in the Red B/S cart (5 hp) and came to a stop when the engine died. I saw oil leaking from the area of the carb. Any thoughts or opinions? Other than possibly sloshing the oil around during hard turns, I can't think of why oil would leak from the carb. Thanks in advance.

Have you verified the engine isn’t over-full of oil?

If it is, the excess oil usually finds it’s way out of the engine. If it’s not, it sounds like a lot of blow-by (from worn piston rings, worn valve guides etc) making its way out of the engine via the crankcase breather tube. The breather could be malfunctioning or in need of a cleaning.

Sorry, I’m drawing a big blank on your “red B/S cart”.

Possible that the float is sticking leading to excess fuel getting in the crankcase. This can also be related to your symptoms as well as a stuck crankcase vent.

B/S cart = Briggs and Stratton cart, sorry. I'll check the oil level, and breather. Thanks

If you have oil(make sure it's OIL, not gas) leaking from the intake port, you may have a major problem. Are you sure it's not coming from the breather area? It may be as simple as getting a new breather valve assembly(I know https://www.dynocams.com/ has them).
As they said, you may simply be overfull. I filled my Briggs 5 208 all the way, and for a little while, it was leaking from the sidecover area, but eventually stopped. If you have a YouTube channel, please record a video of the problem and share it here. Or lots of detailed pictures.

I didn’t necessarily want a pic, or one of the cart (kart) per se, but one of the engine and your issue would’ve helped.

Still not sure what engine you have (guessing it’s an OHV Briggs/Intek), but the problem/solution applies to nearly every small engine of the kind we deal with here.
