Axle making

Hi, I have a question. Do you guys buy a rear axle or do them yourselves? And if there wouldn't be too much trouble could you drop a few photos of your own axles?

usually you buy an axle, but i believe it would be made.

all an axle is is just a solid steel rod with a key way cut into it theres not much to look at

right about the steel, but most of the ones you buy are tempered to have springy flex and not bend extreme/permanent under normal use. tempering and type of metal makes a big difference. you don't want mild steel axles unless you are a lightweight, as these will likely fail quickly under offroad use
