This applies to all member of DIYGK forum:

In case you missed it, earlier today (or yesterday for most of you), we had a "flame war"; without going into detail, comments were made, people were offended/insulted & some were banned (don't bother looking for it, it's been deleted)

This behaviour WILL NOT be tolerated from anyone!

This incident comes days after another member was banned for almost the same reason...

I used to think we were a very tolerant bunch but, lately, I've had my doubts. I donate a lot of time & information/advice to this community because, it's the best one I've ever come across & IMO, the only one deserving of my time but, if we're gonna start carrying on like schoolyard bullies, I don't want any part of it...

Even if you've seen them before, I suggest you ALL go & reread the forum rules just to refresh you memory...

I think a little more tolerance is needed...& remember what your mother taught you:

If you can't say something nice, DON'T SAY ANYTHING!

Folks, I would just like to take a moment to make a brief comment on this.

It is one thing to take an idea, suggestion, or tip- and dispute it. Better so, with some facts, evidence, or experience. It is an entirely different thing to get into personal attacks.

Let me make this clear: Personal attacks will not be tolerated on DIY Go Karts. We can "argue" (debate) until the cows come home, but there's no place for personal insult here. This spans from the top of the heap, all the way down to the newest member. While there are a lot of younger members, this isn't a schoolyard. We're better than that.

Thank you.

I'd like to take this time to apologize to the entire forum for my actions yesterday. I was a major component of the subject at hand, and I was wrong. My actions were/are inexcusable by any standards. My comments were rude, crude, and childish. I am ashamed of how I reacted and what followed.... As most of you know, that is not who I am. I try to be polite, and helpful as possible.
I have friends on here that we occasionally throw jabs at each other. It's all in good fun, and never anything personal. We are here for 4 things..... Learning, teaching, having fun,and friendships.....not necessarily in that order. You know, I joined this forum ONLY because it was family oriented. My kids (who don't live with me) could look on as I work on their toys.... Well, that back fired on me yesterday.
Ya see, my oldest boy saw all that was being said yesterday. He called me after work, to my surprise, and said, "man dad, you were really mad at that guy. That was kinda scary"......
:eek::oops:
My kid saw a side of me that shouldn't have been.... I shouldn't have been that way because it's not just my kids reading this stuff. I'm truly embarrassed and ashamed.

In closing, I just want to say, again, I'm sorry for my actions and you won't see "that" me again.... I promise to continue to help those who ask and do so in a friendly manner. If I do not "get along " with any one, I'll simply avoid the thread....Easy peasy...

To any children reading this now, ..... Even as adults, we learn civility, humanity, honor, and manners..... Sometimes grown up life makes you forget these things, but you must not let it.
Sincerely, James P...

Not our finest hour.....I'm glad those posts are gone. ...and I even made the comment in one that we were making ourselves look bad. ....but there is only one person that had more to do with taking this situation out of control than me....and he is gone.....I apologize as well....

It wasn't just a full moon.....but a Super moon....and I wasn't in the best of moods...for personal reasons I've since gotten past....but while those may be reasons....they are not valid excuses....

Contrary to how it may appear sometimes.....I hate crap like this.....and never like to lose members. ...but. ..as I've found. ...it seems like some are just looking for trouble......
....

I must say I missed the first half, asked what's up around the third quarter...
just to find me poking with a stick in the last...

I'm not sure what happened..
sure, we all have private lives where shirt happens (orange...v-neck ones hopefully ;))
and we carry that wherever we go,
but that was odd.
it's like someone opened a box or something.

Anyways..
glad it's over...

Jim will be back. He was given a couple of days in the box, which is fair.

As you can see I'm a new guy on here so I wont get on a soapbox. I would however like to say that when I joined the other day Jim made me feel very welcome by his kind comments on a surprise project for my son, I hope to see him back soon. Just my $.02. Thanks btw for all the hard work and help all of you provide, it is greatly appreciated.

I have to agree with kalescart (maybe it's an Iowa thing). Jim replied in a positive way to my first post and several others, and made me feel welcomed. I also agree that the thread got ugly and counterproductive to what this site offers. Fortunately, I do not have to judge others here - I would not enjoy the difficult work of the administrators.

I won't attempt to "advise" others about behavior, but I will personally endeavor to take Fabroman's advice: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything." Seems an easy thing to keep in mind.
