Ok, so here goes. This is the frame I'm starting with for my m/c engine, kneel-down, handlebar steered drag cart. Don't know the make, rumor has it it's mid '80s vintage non-offset dirt oval cart.
Power will be provided by a Kawasaki GPZ 1100 punched to 1394cc, approx 11-1 comp., mild cams, a little port work, w/ Lectron 40mm carbs. Will be using a 40mm aluminum drag quad rear axle w/ jr. dragster slicks and traditional 6" dirt cart front wheels and tires. Will be equipped w/ air shifter and air clutch release and wheelie bars. This will be a serious 1/8th mile drag machine, not the typical m/c engine powered donut spinning, you-tube tire shredder bs.
Not that it matters, but does anyone recognize this frame? No numbers or name to be found anywhere on it. Only gunna use the frt. 1/2 of it, got to build the rear special to accomadate engine and axle, will prolly end up with 75-80" wheelbase.

It showed the pic in my post when I previewed it and it's showing right now in the post. Not sure why you aren't seeing it. May be a temp. Photobucket prob. I was uploading several pics from my computer to one of my albums and it just said uploads failed.
Yep photobucket down. My luck. I'd post one from my computer but they're huge files and that's a no-no.

Wow thats crazy. So what have you thought about in regards to traction? I have seen a few videos with engines about this size and all they do is punch the gas a little too hard and melt rubber. Do you think you will be able to take advantage of the power?

8" x 8" alum atv rear wheels w/ Hoosier 8" wide Jr. dragster slicks, coupled with the right weight distribution, clutch management, ignition timing management and nice, long wheelie bars should be able to put a decent amount of power down early enough in the run to post some decent ET's. Tuning the combo in most all drag-type setups is THE key element. Shooting for low 6 second 1/8th mile passes w/ mph in the 115-120 range using 1st thru 4th gear.
Gotta long (since late 70's) background in motorcycle drag racing with a modicum of success so there's that.
Yeah, I've seen the tire burners too, that doesn't interest me. At all.
Thanks for the welcome, yuse guys.

And perhaps a bit of working suspension for proper weight transfer?

Suspension will be provided by proper frame "flex". Weight transfer by proper cg placement via rider and engine position (the 2 biggest contributors to total vehicle wt.). Just like we do w/ wheelie bar equipped drag bikes at this same power level.

That's actually exactly what I was referring to. .....a "working" suspension in drag racing is all about transfer .......and in the upper end of HP is generally through frame flex to a great degree......

This is obvious visually looking at a top fuel dragster bouncing after a burn-out.....

You can also get there playing with unsprung weight on a car.....and the back-half set-up.....but a high powered kart.....more closely resembles a rail in most aspects. .....
