anyone got a shredder kart?

the engineering club at south alabama built something very similar to this it was a kit competition where several universitys get a kit and can only use the things it and then we race them... i loved the design because it was very simple and basic also light and sturdy ours was a live axle and that was definantly awsome had a single disk brake on the rear axle and was very fun the only major problems we had with it was the motor came out past the frame and we bumped the motor on one turn that almost knocked it completely off the frame so consider that also idk about your but ours had no suspension which sucked when going down the rougher part of the course also all the weight was in the back which was great for traction but we thought it would roll over up hill and added what was basically a wheelie bar but that is the case for most carts hope that this helped man its a cool cart and a great design

just look at there website, the site itself might not be too fancy, but from what i can tell the plans are prob superb! i'm tempted to build the 2 seater, watch some of the vids.
p.s. does spider carts have any vids of the arachnid going off jumps, not to mention a kart with no suspension, being fine with it? i would buy them, even if they are crap, its only 20 bucks. i like how your willing to buy plans.

it looks quad size with quad like tires... shouldnt it have quad suspension?
it definantly needs one if your wanting to jump it or its going to hurt youll at least want a double a arm front suspension which wouldnt be that hard to modify into the original plans and would at least offer you some kind of cushion upon impact... it all really depends on what you want out of it and what you want your cart to do

first time i have seen ackerman mentioned on a website for plans. i still like the 2 seat one 
ya i like the design, building carts at a university and racing them would be awesome! My mane concern with this is the suspension but i dont plan on any major jumps mostly climbing, muddin, and back roads. another prob i see is steering, it looks like the wheels could hit the frame when turned to hard.
well if you go with a double a arm suspension your ride will be smoother and you can extend them out so on sharp turns you dont hit the frame otherwise what we did was simply put a stop bolt on each side that hit the front wheel hubs and kept the wheel from ever touching the frame... and yea man it was definantly a lot of fun competing our cart against other universitys it was crazy seeing all the different types and set ups that schools brought and it was a good turn out over 30 university's competed

you can get away with no suspension, get some honda 3 wheeler tires, lol.
it was a really cool track actually and you raced 6 times (because theres 6 people to a team and they wanted everyone to drive) and each track was diffrent. there was a lose gravel oval. a sort of mud quarter mile thing where the mud got deeper and depper. a rock crawling type track. one where its just trails and you basically just negitiate a lot of turns. one that was like parts of it you where on really dry dirt then on a road. then for the last one it was a hill that got really steep at the top and it wasnt even really a race it was just who made it furthest up. we had a very interesting set up for the suspension though deppending on what we where doing we could have one or not basically we could put one on or just bolt the a arms right to the frame we ran it mostly without one though

you could just use a simple rear swing arm(or a simple irs using a js lined up with the suspension pivots, i'm not sure if that design has bean tested yet, but i don't see any huge problems, would bring up a thread about this idea but i recall it was mostly people arguing), and some single a-arm front suspension, would definitely change the look, and you would have to alter the cage.
yea your on the right track except we didnt use bolts it was some fabricated solid rods with two smaller rods welded on the end basically made a big T but welded on each side of the top of the T were two bolts that ran parrallel with the large solid rod then the top mount of the shock and mounting bracket for the shock were both sort of keyed for the T then you push and twist and the two bolts locked in two holes on the frame and a spring kept the whole thing from just falling out. when your ready to take them off you simply push and twist and do the same at the bottam and there off
