That is awesome. Looks great. Specs?

I've been into RC cars/trucks for as long as I can remember. My first car was a Cox Ultra Stock. Since then I've probably had 50 of them. I'm actually trying to sell a couple now to fund my kart project.

thanks tig. the hull is 20'' wide 35'' long the engine i had got from a old stand up scooter its a 33cc i need to get a new carb for it the old carb has a hole in the diaphragm and its non adjustable and i don't like that but thay got them on ebay for $15 new. i still don't now if the prop that i want to use will work cus the hub mybe to thick and it doesn't say the Specs on that but it's all for fun even if it is a massive failure. :)

Last year I traded a ready-to-fly airplane/radio/engine for an old Yerf Dog kart. The kart needed work but it runs now. The other guy was really happy with the airplane, but unfortunately he crashed it the third time he flew it. My instinct told me to feel guilty, but he knew the risks. Every time a plane takes off may be the last. Better luck next time.

I always wanted an RC boat. When I get around to building ponds on my farm I'll have to build one. RC float planes are a ton of fun, too. I need to get to work on those ponds.

Here are some photos of planes I've built.

Most guys have switched over to electric power on the smaller planes. Cox engines are particularly out of favor because they were troublesome to run in the first place. I got pretty good at handling them, but I think I've had enough. I just don't like electric, though. So I usually stick to planes requiring at least a .10 engine now.

Yeah, that's the Cox .049 Tee Dee, which is a high performance engine. You can build something really nice with that. How are your flying skills?

Yeah, helicopters are a lot of fun until you have to buy new parts. I guess that's why I've never gotten into them.

If you want any airplane recommendations for your .049, let me know. There are some .049 planes that will be way overpowered by that engine, since it is a high performance design.

The cross section of the propeller is an airfoil, as in a wing. The blunt edge is the leading edge, and the sharp edge is the trailing edge. Lift is created on the top of the airfoil, which means your propeller pulls toward the rounded convex side. In other words, you want to install it so the convex side is toward the front.

There may be an issue with your installation. Most engines used in RC models turn counterclockwise as viewed when looking at the front of the airplane. A standard propeller will pull the engine forward in this configuration. Your photo appears to show an engine that turns in the standard direction, judging from the rope handle, which means you need a pusher propeller because the engine is facing the back of the boat. Is this what you got?

Yeah, that's right. It looks as if you have the right equipment. The rounded convex side of the propeller goes to the front of the vehicle.

Actually it will still move air in the correct direction if you mount it backwards, but less efficiently. That's a trick that will allow you to use your Tee Dee .049 on a plane designed for moderate power. Because these tiny engines are not throttled you have to use the correct engine to keep it from going into outer space before it runs out of fuel. If you want to build a mild-mannered airplane but don't want to buy another engine, that's one way to make it work.
