I honestly doubt your going to find a live axle bearing hanger welded to a streaker engine mount unless you find a kart to cut the mount off of. If that was my kart I wouldn’t worry about it but I can’t say that for you because I don’t know if that’s safe. Most live axle gokarts have two bearing hangers that is it one on each side. That third hanger is basically a bonus. if I did own that one I would weld the engine plate back on and brace the front to back bar and put in a live axle. If you go live axle the brakes are tricky As you would need a pivot system like I build for the band. That is a model sta-5 through an sta-9. as the madprofessor said the mack Truck of gokarts. in My opinion the best base there is from factory to start with. No other karts built with such user serviceability/modification in mind.
My model streaker is supposed to have 4 bearing holders two on the left side that are pretty close to each other then one on the right side and the one missing was the one that welds to the motor mount I could very easily fabricate one my problem is finding out how and where exactly it get welded at some close up clear pictures would help a lot. Thanks for the reply! And I have thought about just putting a live axle on it to get rid of the differential. Thanks again

yupp I know the hanger they cut off. If you ever need me to measure anything I have three streakers and can. but there off-road karts and could very well be bent tweaked who knows. they have very heavy over/under Ackerman steering so the live axle doesn’t make it unable to turn. i have had a few live axle karts and the steering sucked so bad. these streakers karts Do not have that problem due to the heavy Ackerman. let me know what you need close up/measured and I’ll help you out with it the best I can.

You can fab anything you want, and mount it anywhere you want. Just mount bearings close to the outside for the wheels, and close to the sprocket and the brake. See pic below for an example of a 4-bearing custom setup.

I have another question. If I was to switch to a live axle what length and size should I go with I'm sure I need one with key way and someone mentioned lining the brakes up is difficult switching to live axle. I just don't want to waste time putting original on it for the diff to just break. Thanks again
There is so much you have to know off the bat.. that’s two 3 hole flangettes for each hanger. Needing the thicker 1” live axle bearings so the flangettes squeeze the bearing right. all the locking collars. putting a live axle in these are easy.. the factory did all the hard work for you welding on the hangers evenly. don’t overthink hanging the axle in it. Now the brakes are a whole different story. I welded together a pivot system from the old brakes and flipped the linkage arm. these brakes will lock up both tires but it does flex the band brake mount when you do. my brakes setup is just not suitable for kids. you would need to copy my setup and be carful or make your own.

1”x36” live axle 1/4 full length keyway. evilbay..... that is what’s in both my karts with small tires and hubs I know will fit. Never did ask what tires your gonna run. Buggy or yardkart? Don’t buy that axle unless you intend to run the same exact $60 tires and $120 hubs I run because I know they work with that axle perfectly. if you have wider hubs it still might work but I fear the buggy tires hitting the frame due to the axle has no more outward adjustment. the nut on only 6 threads and tires nearly clearing the frame type situation.

I got a differential that is stock to the streaker in this thread when I bought it. they had already removed it. The teeth are worn away and won’t grab. I‘m gonna bust the aluminum housing away and go at the insert with a mig. The inserts are locked into the housing. so welded the inserts to the axle itself will get it back to spinning one wheel. all three streakers and the diffs are junk. You can go ahead with it. but go easy on it. they were made for governed use around a yard.CFA12EAF-1E5D-43CC-853A-C6BA7E8DBD57.jpeg

I came soooo close to hitting a deer. ran right out in front of me.6AA84484-E166-4A1A-9496-0322C123DB58.jpegE4CB2A82-B8D1-4E4C-BA60-FA4F334B96DF.jpeg47C4B633-8A44-49B6-8C28-C6AA4D3BC253.jpeg

Feels like -29 today. Never did have much sucsess with a 22mm mikuni on this free 5hp Briggs. I am having amazing success with the 2nd gen pulsa jet off an old tiller. Followed the book on rebuilding and modding the pulsa jet and it just works so well. Throw in some supporting mods with the stock appearing pulsa jet and a 5hp can be so much fun. My opinion......sh-t can that briggs, it was a less than stellar motor on a lawn mower. boogie on down to harbor freight and get a predator 212 for $150, and stage 1 it, ( for $60) and you'll have 10 horsepower to rip around

I’ve been waiting patiently for a customer return of ”the ghost” at are HF. I picked up a returned mower they refurbished and heavily marked down and it’s been great. I’m sure a marked down predator 212 at least will show up sooner or later.

I have both engines ready for summer. I need to buy one more set of tires/tubes. the 5hp is just fun with junk I got for free. it’s had the rod replaced and the case fixed at one point probably 20 years ago. it’s just a thrasher. I’m putting the billet flywheel on the 5hp later today so I can really push it to the breaking point. 7677B6D6-CEF2-4FCD-A529-FE069AEE71F2.jpegC94A42D4-5873-42BE-B1B6-5C234E13FBFE.jpeg

I am surprised the home made weld cam wasn‘t wiped out when I pulled it. It never even wore down.. I was expecting it to be junk but the engine ran well and always started easy had plenty of torque to. I’ll keep this cam after all. it’s amazing the weld didn’t wear away. the lifters were also perfect.DF901651-4293-4352-8781-15E137C2CC90.jpegEACD4057-7C31-4F4A-8C8B-692CE9F9A09F.jpeg

Not sure where i left off but both these karts are done. Brakes on running/driving. They need little things like air filters and such. But they do drive nice.54C6866D-41B4-40A5-8E2D-1B177EA86094.jpeg85CCABB4-1E96-48E2-AC90-0C307C0888A0.jpegDBDDAD4C-1931-45C3-B9FC-66A772D302F1.jpeg6580B616-6BAD-43E9-990A-F8F2D9F33477.jpeg9F223995-B8D7-4751-AE09-C85EB8524BA0.jpeg

I got all the tie rod ends loose amazingly and adjusted a bit here and a bit there and the wheels are straight on both. i always thought torque converters would limit engine rpm’s. for some reason I also thought smaller tires with a torque converter would also make it harder to reach top speed. I was very wrong. no rpm limit and scary speed smashed both springs right out of it.. the steering honestly felt safe to me even at the speeds I was testing my limits at. I’m leaving straight as an arrow alone.69069768-8995-45FB-AA78-11BD03237108.jpeg
