i'm the guy with the 440cc snowmobile engine needing some info but i also have a clean running briggs 18hp motor with a horizontal output but the shaft is tapered.... will it still work??

no you need a straight shaft dude why not use that sled engine

Cant use tapered shaft. Clutches only go on keyed straight shafts. U may be able to buy a shaft adaptor from somewhere like a lawnmower shop or online but probably not.

As long as he has access to a lathe then yer but getting an adaptor machined costs a lot. He already has a nice sled engine that he can use so theres no point in spending money gettin this one goin.
