Hi, Folks! My name is Chris, and at this moment, I'm the new guy! Thought this looked like a great place to toss ideas around and have some fun. Right now, I have a kart that I bought, one that I am mid-build, and one in the planning stages. The one I bought was built by the guy I bought it from- A big beast of an offroad kart- Honda GX340 11hp, Comet model 40 torque convertor, and hydraulic brakes. Heavy as heck, goes pretty good, steers VERY well for a live-axle rig. No suspension though. I installed a lap belt just to keep my fanny from getting bounced right outta the kart.
The mid build is an unsuspended offroader I'm working on for my kids- offbrand 4hp with Comet centrifugal clutch, geared waaaay down 'cuz thier rookies at driving stuff.
The kart on paper starts with a 1989 Yamaha Virago 250 I scored last year dead cheap without a title. Runs perfect. Air cooled V-twin, 5-speed. Should make for a pretty unique kart, no? I managed to come up with some used ATV tires, too.
I'm hoping to suspend this kart and have a few ideas that I'll want to bounce off you good folks...
I'm looking forward to meshing minds with some of you geniuses... and maniacs...
