Better with the GX as that is a horizontal shaft.

:iagree: absolutely!! The horizontal engine is going to cause you so much less hassle than trying to get the vert engine to run horizontal. You have to change carb, oil slinger, make engine mount etc. Too much potential for something to go wrong

Hey guys, just a quick update. I think its been about a fortnight since I last updated my thread. I've been pulling out my hair trying to figure out my engine.
But hey-ho this is where I'm up to at the moment. I've built up the hip rails and extended 500mm put some ribs In and its a million times more rigid so I've just got to finish off the mid section and roll cage and work on the engine chassis. Cheers guys

roll cage and rear end done.

Hey guys, I got on it today and finished the roll cage and the rear end where the engine and axle will mount. I also made a start on the front of the steering system. I went with the tie rods and pitman arm because I wasnt sure if I could get a steering rack small enough to modify and mess about with so I just went for it. Soon I'll be making a steering wheel and extending my axle. Cheers guys and stay tuned.

I agree the original plan was to slide some 12mm bar through the box section column and weld it to the steering wheel and pitman arm. (There are thick washers welded to either side to make a rolling bush). After looking at the bracing I'm going to take out the column and replace it with a piece of one inch tube and use that as the steering stem. And use that box for some bracers. In the mean time I had a spare twenty mi utes so I quickly knocked up a steering wheel. Cheers guys stay tuned

steerings in!!!!!

Hi guys, just a quick update.

I've got my steering linkages in and it works surprisingly well I had to change the Whole idea of my steering shaft and column but I got there in the and I just need some 16x150s and then I'll have the wheels on. In turn I'll find out how much to extend my axle :wai: pictures to come.

a change of plan.....

Hi guys,
in advance I'd like to apologise if I'm opening too many threads and I'm going to just stick to my build thread and inboxs for questions.
Soooooo after a long head scratching session I've decided to sell the bike engine as it was in need of too much love and I'm going with a Briggs 3000 xl Genny engine (6.5hp). I'm also going to put on a CV transmition off of a 125 moped. Has anybody ever done this before. If so any help and advise is very much needed and even more appreciated.... Many thanks Dave.
