An engine oddity, Honda GX140

This is what happens if I rev it a bit above governed speed, with a load.
I have since adjusted valve lash on the exhaust port and found the engine to be more responsive, it will now idle when hot, sounds better, and has a bit more balls on the bottom and top end.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome...maybe even an alternative explanation?

When it revs a bit higher then 4k, this is what used to happen. I first thought is was an error on my part, but have since adjusted valve lash a couple of thou. Engine now runs a lot better. Reason for posting this thread was for possible alternate theories, and so that if it happens to somebody else, there is a trouble shooting guide posted-it had me stumped.

Valve lash does have a spec, but the book containting that information will set me back $50. For now, it works, and I've been visited by police now. i can't drive it in my street, someone complained. So I don't want to spend that much more if it's not getting the use.
