The bicycle generator? Yeah, it's pretty simple and dead easy to implement. Downsides- mud/goo/snow on tire won't do it any good. It doesn't generate much power, so you'd better get LED lights. I think they are meant to run one 6v bulb, at maybe 3 watts. Lastly, the faster you go, the brighter the light. Stop, and you're in the dark.

To the OP- a factory charging or lighting coil will make such a teeny dent in your engine's power output you will not even notice. Running an automotive alternator is a whole other matter.

Well I found that they make an alternator for my engine, also a starter for it. I am VERY happy about that, these are things that I will be adding later, after all the paint and work actually needed. My buddy runs a small engine repair shop, and has some nice access to parts sites. I've never done anything with a flywheel, but he said for me, he'd put it on, for 50 bucks! thats INCLUDING the part! and what ever I need to be able to hook up a battery to it. ( may need an inverter he wasn't sure)

Seems like a great deal, anyone else think its a good deal??

yea long day, def a regulator. we were talking about generators, and mowerators while i was typing. When i checked what my cost of the part is I ordered it it was like 44, so thats good to me, and I can sit it and do some learning while it gets done. The mechanic there is amazing, and crazy. He use to put NOS on everything, his boat, bike, whatever he could, and hes still alive and unhurt.

I too have been looking into doing one of these alternators/generators under the flywheel as my block has the mounts for it. The issue personally is the high cost of a magnetic flywheel (internal for the alternator). You're lucky to have one from the beginning!
