Air filter - tight fit - looking for recommendations

I don't like the looks of the stock Predator 212 air filter. My brother gave me an air filter kit, but it doesn't quite fit the space I have available. I've searched around, but it's really hard to find what I need based only on internet photos.

You'll see in the photo how I have an obstruction where the air filter needs to go. I either need to find a short, wide air filter or one that mounts at a sharper angle, or something I'm not thinking of because I'm not sure what options exist.

The inlet on the red kit is 62mm, but I don't have to stick with it. I can just give it back to my brother and source a different one.

Any thoughts?

It’s a big problem for some builds, no doubt about it.
A 90 or 45 degree elbow intake is an option, problem is it may have to be custom fab:

“Bend” the airflow too much and you disrupt the A/F charge and may have running issues or need a re-jet.

Denny beat me to it. I do wish the stock air filter assembly looked more 1970’s or like a tin cup with a wingnut on top.

What’s the project/vehicle that has such an obstruction? Almost looks like an engine bay

Hellion, it's my mini-truck. This angle shows it best. I didn't plan on enough space for the air filter to not conflict with the bedside.

Where are you going to be using it? Your build is really neat. I have followed it on your other thread. If it's only limited short time use on asphalt, you could just run it like it is.

There you go. White PVC, black ABS, any number of plumbing pieces would work. You could rig up a low profile adapter made from a PVC or ABS end cap to give you more room and then add a 3"-4" tall dual layer UNI or generic filter. These have a foam core and another layer of foam, a pre-filter, that you can add oil to to capture dirt.

Cutting off the top of the factory air cleaner assembly seems to be popular:

It will have an easy life I'm sure - pretty much just cruising easy on pavement. However, there is always a chance it could suck in dust, and I can't leave it open or the mud wasps will find the hole in the spring, and I'll have a mess. Those little guys plug every hole they can find.

You guys are right. 2" PVC is a very good fit. I'm not sure in the end if it will look any better than the stock air filter, so to avoid air/fuel issues I may just stick with the stock filter like Denny recommended.

Which Rotaderp is it, a Hemi or non-Hemi? The Hemis have a deluxe air filter assembly with the usual paper accordion innard surrounded by an expanded steel mesh “can” and a foam pre-filter wrapped around the outside. The non-Hemis have about a 1” thick piece of foam… which is probably entirely adequate. Don’t know if the differences still exist, you’d probably have to own both engine types to tell.

Just saying if it’s a hemi, you could probably keep the deluxe assembly but remove the ugly black filter cover. Then, add a red or black pre-filter to top off the look (keeping your color scheme).

This is a Powerfist engine (Canada only) and not a Greyhound like I originally thought, but anyway, the concept is the same:
