SO it seems like most folks on here are in three brackets

10 to 16 (pre drivers license) :auto:

27 to 33 (kids old enough for them to need a go kart)

and over 50 :cheers2:

Just going by words and skills used in builds; what is everyone thoughts :lolgoku:

Not picking, just curious :roflol:

You may be on to something.

I fell into the 2nd age group when I got into karts about 3 years ago, and it was exactly because of what you listed (kid was old enough to ride).

Now I'm out of that age group, just barely though :p And my karts are collecting dust :ack2:

Kid lost interest and I gravitated into mini bikes, which are now too collecting dust :lolgoku:

Now I'm into vintage Honda Mini Trails. :2guns:

Haven't gotten rid of anything yet though, a few times a year we have good size parties, and the family kids always go straight to the karts, so at least they do get some usage.

I somewhat fall under cat 2, however by those standards I'm not quite there yet (another 2 and a half months short). I've ridden go karts that are usually found at theme park grounds (so 2:1 gear redux box and cog belt final drive) and modified race karts (thicker bumpers). I've wanted a go kart for the majority of my life and it's only been really in the last 10 years that I have the urge to build one from the ground up.

can't drive anything else yet. At least they're not glued to a playstation

Age 16-21 too many fun new things happening in life to be worried about go karts... Driving, gambling, drinking, women, etc

Age 22-26. Too broke for hobbies. Still trying to figure out adulting

27 to 33 (kids old enough for them to need a go kart)
novelty of driving real cars has long since worn off, and they are stuck with boring cars for hauling families around. Go karts are more fun than commuting. kids are a bit small yet for go karts, but old enough to justify building them for "when they're old enough"

34-50, pretty well established in life.
Finally get to buy a fun car, ATVs, more expensive hobbies, etc.

and over 50 :cheers2:
Go karts are fun, and you don't need to justify yourself to anybody

I’m 44 and have raced something pretty much all my life. I’m out of big cars and choppers now, too crippled to motocross anymore, and go karts are a fun outlet to exercise my fab and mechanical skills.

37. Have wanted to build a cart for 30 years. Finally at a point where I can dedicate resources to it. Did the Baja SAE thing in college.
