Lowes don't have it. I misread 24" for 24 tpi

Looking online it looks like none of the box stores carry it. Amazon can get it to you in two day's if you have prime... Or you're SOL for the holiday weekend and you can go find Dory.

OK I returned the 3/8" -24 and ordered some 3/8" -16.

EDIT: LOL this is Reversed. I ordered the 24 tpi!

I got SS again, if for no other reason, so that I can say I have custom Heavy Duty SS Tie Rods.

I have survived two failing tie rods, both times with no brakes and no helmet. I lived.

I know O'Reilly's has fuel filters, mufflers, primer bulbs, and stuff like that.

No stupid. It is supposed to be 3/8" -24! Not 3/8" -16 you idiot! Now return it to homedepot and get the right stuff from lowes!

There was a guy at O'Reilly's the other day looking for AN OIL FILTER....for a Briggs.

I adjusted the chain. I put hose clamps on my some of my maze of tubing. I bungee'd the fuel pump to the tank (it will work for testing).

So as of now.

1/4" Fuel Injector Line
Mikuni Pulse Fuel Pump (driven from carb adapter)
gx390 carb
Zero degree (two Piece carb adapter with Pulse fitting)

Tank to pump
Pump to T
A.) From T, a return line to tank through a 1/4 turn valve (opened all the way)
B.) From T, a fuel line to the carb inlet through an inline fuel filter.

0.028" Pilot Jet
0.042" Main Jet
gx390 ETube

It started up easy cold.
I had the choke on, but shut it off quickly.

After maybe a minute (not warmed up yet), I got it to idle around 2000 RPM with the fuel screw two turns out.

I started to turn the fuel screw in and the RPMs increased. I turned it all the way in and the engine did not die. If you can run your engine with the fuel screw seated, your pilot jet is most likely too large. My other jet is drilled to 0.025". I was testing my jet drilling skills on this jet. I think it is one size up from the stock pilot jet. Stock seemed somewhere around 0.024" perhaps????

In the morning i will test this 0.025" Pilot jet. To Heck with weeks of researching what other people suggest for jet sizes. 0.028" was the most common recommendation and the average.

I can go up to 0.026", but do not have a 0.027" bit. I can not go down with out some solder or Epoxy.

It better be 0.025" or 0.026". Since seating the fuel screw did't kill it, I guessing (HOPING) 0.025" should be close.

Oh yeah. That should be reversed. lol

I'd hate to see you do the same thing twice, or five times, or whatever lol.

It is like the 26lb springs with the split keepers.

First try took 4 hrs.

Now I can do it in 5 minutes.

I'll figure stuff out eventually like ... how to torque a bolt, how to order parts, how to understand women,...:ack2:

My brake caliper sits right under my Air filter adapter. Since I am lazy, I tried to get the snapped bleeder screw out without drilling. After 2 seconds, I gave up and unscrewed the whole assembly. I bought a various bleeder screw / assembly kit from an auto store like 4 months ago. I can't find it now. I'm sure it is with my TC bushing. '

I did find all 4 E-clips, then lost one again.

Ya I know it is overkill, but the neighbors insisted they wouldn't feel safe otherwise.:p

---------- Post added at 10:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:14 AM ----------

I bought the HF Micro Carbide bit set a while ago.

It has a .65mm (0.0255") and 0.70mm (0.0275") that are around around pilot jet sizes.

It doesn't say sizes on the box.

It goes up to 1.1mm (0.043", but the next lowest size is .85mm (0.033").

So basically this whole set allows me only to drill the Pilot to 0.0255" instead of 0.024". The 0.0275" will probably be too big.

0.043" on the main is too big. 0.033" on the main is too small.

Only one bit is useful to me. BUT the 0.65mm bit may be just right.

I was at 0.028" DIA Pilot jet (0.00064575 sq inch opening)
I am going to tty 0.025" DIA Pilot jet (0.00049087 sq inch opening)

You can see 0.00065 / 0.00050 = 1.3

This is a BIG difference for the Area of the Jet bore.

If my 0.025" Pilot is too small, I will try to confirm that the Predator 212 jets interchange with the 390 (85% sure they do)

I stuck my self almost every time I opened one of the cases to hold the bits. My fingers look like I'm diabetic with all the blood droplets.

Alright, Noon O' Clock! The neighbors have let me out after 45 minutes of me banging on my door.

Since we are all awake now, I guess I can try to tune the Low Speed Jet.
Keeping the 0.042" Main Jet for now. Trying the 0.025", drilled, de-burred, all plastic, aftermarket jet with the wider O-ring and tighter fit.

Even if the 0.042" main jet is too big, it shouldn't matter with the idle tuning.

Only problem is I can't drive it to warm it up. And I don't have that Heat Shield / Air Pointer thing on right now. I guess I can use a box fan while it idles???

---------- Post added at 12:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:04 PM ----------

Have you researched reading spark plugs yet? You can read low speed and wot, as well as dial your timing in by just looking at the plug.

How do I check the plug for Low Speed?
Just let it idle?

How do I check the timing with a plug reading?

I've been told you can't really check the Idle jet with a plug reading.
I've also heard that something (new fuel, new plugs???) make reading plugs not as straight forward???

Any help would be useful.

I think I have to wait for the main jet until I have a tie rod.:mad2:

---------- Post added at 12:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 PM ----------

I've got 3 other brand new plugs but not sure if these washers are reusable?

---------- Post added at 01:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:14 PM ----------

Even though I got the idle jet to fit before, Today it didn't want to go in. I think it was cavfire who suggested chucking it in a drill and hitting with 220 grit. Worked perfect.

This jet doesn't have a top o-ring. I will keep this in mind as I've read people like to play with these rings. (one vs two, top vs bottom)

Also found the bleeder assembly and put it in. Now just need to try to bleed them again.

The small one fits with my MCP brake caliper

With the 0.025" low jet, any more than two turns in and the engine starts to stumble. Backing it almost all the way out and the engine RPMs increase.

We are making progress!

It seems the low needs to be bigger than 0.025" and less than 0.028"!
I've got the 0.0255" bit and the 0.026" bit.

I'll bet the 0.026" will be fine, but maybe I'll use the 0.0255" first so as to not overdo it.

---------- Post added at 01:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------

Skipping right to 0.026".
SCREW these HF bits. I don't care it 0.0255" is perfect. I'm trying 0.026".
Not only are the HF bits trying to kill me now, but one is hiding in my bed to try to kill me later.

---------- Post added at 02:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 PM ----------

Here is 8 minutes of me adjusting the fuel screw and the Idle speed screw.

I think the 0.026" will be good. Possibly 0.0265" or 0.0270" would be better, but I'll go with what I have. I may try the 0.028" again, just to be sure!

Got to rep DIYGK on the Tube! I hope my friend from work that follows my channel doesn't click on some Youtube link find my thread, read 50 pages and show Missy her pictures. lol

At least the axle is straight!

I'm really happy with the 1.25" x 48" long solid steel keyed shaft.

My 420 should be here when ever delivery resumes. My 304 SS 3/8-24 threaded rod and heim joints have not yet shipped.

Tuesday the 5th is my day off.
Who wants to port a 420 head? lol

I don't know how long I can sit on it. I've got nowhere to put it. I'd like to run it stock (well just no governor / oil sensor) and do 1 thing at a time. I need money and space, and probably to forget about it for a while.

---------- Post added at 06:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:38 PM ----------

Maybe this will cause me to ditch the dual 212 idea?
And maybe I'll put a stroker rod in this and put it on the buggy?
