I might even take him back....it was nice not having to mix my own drinks....he makes a lousy sammich tho.

I make mean Long Islands and Margaritas. My blackened ribeye steak sandwich with Cajun mayo is fire!

So my carb studs should be here in a few hours.
I have put the first part of the carb adapter on! I don't think anything got stripped or snapped!
I used two OEM gaskets with a layer of gasket sealant between each surface.

Going to put the other part on, but still think I should use a gasket. Directions call for gasket sealant alone, but no gasket.

HHHHMMMMM????????

If gasket sealant is good, is a real gasket (with or without sealant), or RTV gasket maker better??

I've got extra gaskets that fit????
Let me study this air passage for a second.

---------- Post added at 02:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:04 PM ----------

OK the air groove thing obviously doesn't do anything on that part of the adapter. The groove on the 2nd part is what matches the carb.

So What do you think????????????
Gasket with sealant?
Gasket with no sealant?
Only Sealant?
RTV Ultra Gray?

I went with the stupid instructions. Just gasket SEALANT, not MAKER.
I'm guessing these are not from a solid piece like the connecting rod. You can buy these separate, so I'm guessing it's not perfectly machine matched - but probably close?

Studs have arrived!

I was going to post a pic for the Mistress (not that she probably reads this), but figured chancer could find an appropriate pic.

AND with the free stickers I asked for in the Memo section of the order!!!
I lost my ARC stickers and Needed to rep!

AND THIS TOO!

There is a widespread belief—one with no historical or grammatical foundation—that it is an error to begin a sentence with a conjunction such as and, but or so. In fact, a substantial percentage (often as many as 10 percent) of the sentences in first-rate writing begin with conjunctions.May 29, 2014

BUT if you try to correct my grammar, don't use that Gen X BS Grammar! lol
This is that Gen Y grammar shooot!

Just Kidding chancer. lol

Stock Low Speed Jet (has metal insert) has been drill out to 0.028". First 0.024, then 0.025, then 0.026, I don't have 0.027", so I jumped to the 0.028" bit size. I can go bigger but not smaller. I have another Low jet drilled to 0.025" for now. Based off suggestions, not tuning. I can fine tune later.

I will start with the 0.042" main jet that I ordered. It is bigger, but I'm still a bit worried about the whole gas, compression, camshaft, thing... Running Rich is more better for now cuz it is more safer.

Idle jet installed with top and bottom O-Rings.
With goop and extra gaskets, I don't have many threads left on the carb studs and I don't like the way the air filter adapter is fitting.
I'm going to investigate further in the morning. Don't want to rush and caveman it just yet.

Does anybody have experience cutting the tip of the emulsion tube?

I was trying to destroy my carb and was thinking about a 45 degree cut on the tip of the tube (part that extends into the venturi of the carb).

It was suggested to me, but I only read about it once or twice briefly and can't seem to find the info now???????????

And since I ordered an inline primer pump (don't know why - maybe if I go to gravity??), I was thinking who needs a choke restricting air. I realize removing the choke is probably a bad idea...

Thoughts on either?
Thanks
Bob

Removing the Choke. Sounds more like PAFR than GAB.

Especially cause the 390 carb is big and probably the least restrictive (most oversized) part of the intake.

This is why I made the list...

If I set the lash, then open the crankcase to clean all the internals, I will have to take the valve cover off and set the lash again.

So maybe just the rocker arms for now, I may have to buy some e-clips.
I kinda forgot about the studs for the side cover.
