And just to show off, we went crawling. Here's my uncle on a 14 foot waterfall. This is the "gatekeeper" to a 3/4 mile trail that took us 6 hours to get 7 Jeep's through.

I finally got the bracket on #2 and set it at 2.5btdc according to my previous findings. Went for a test drive and it ran just like it did.

Came back in the garage and removed carb and tank to make way for the blower cover to come off.
Now I found that this had a stock advance of 24°.
I'd like 32° so I added the 8° and set the marks at 10.5.

That's confusing and I'm gonna reference absolute instead of the marks.

Anyway. Put the caca back on and ripped the cord.
WOW! noticable snappier start. In the seat I hopped with a stupid smile. Hit the pedal and exactly what I expected. I could feel the extra ponies unleashed.

Even in the hard corners where I usually run out of power it just kept pulling. No hesitations and a snappier throttle response. Right on! And remember, this is the only mod Ive done to this engine. Gov still functioning and all!

Now I guess a product review?
It shipped fast,
Fairly cheap,
It needed alot of work to fit.

Would I recommend it to a friend?
Sure if he had a good tool box:lolgoku:

Then I find this....:mad2::horse::censored::censored:
Guess #2is jealous of the makeover#1 just had.

So I pulled the piston in the blowed up B&S. I pulled it to count teeth on the cam. You know why....it's a 70tooth cam. 1 tooth equals 5.14°

Anyways, I was curious as to the ring gap. Lmao really? .240 on the top and .170 on the second? The oil rings had .100

So... Do they make rings that fit or is the norm?

Not much going on here. It's too hot do do anything outside during the days.
So since the front axle broke on #2, it's down. Today I was gonna give some maintenance to #1. Remove the TC and smooth out the dirt and rock damage, and buff the slide shafts. But as I grabbed the engine to lift myself up, I see it rock. Uh oh.

Further inspection finds the motormount broke. Well there goes my fun for tonight. Now both Dingos are down for the count.

I guess they're not meant to go sideways all the time. I think it's time I look for a minisprint chassis or something.

Got the engine off today. Found more damage.
6 breaks, 2 are on the motormount that I already welded once.

While the engines off I think it's time for an oil change and I'm gonna open it up and remove the governor. This one has been bypassed with the springs still faking it out. The oil sensor is gonna get deleted also. I wish I could spring for a cam at his point but absolutely no funds at this time.

I might try jumping a tooth on the cam. I counted teeth and did the math. 5.14° per tooth. If I retard the cam it should help low end right?

And as a follow up to the bed liner paint on the belly pans....
It didn't hold up as well as I expected.

I had some of the sheet start to remove it self but I'm gonna say my cracker box welding is at fault. That thin sheet just melts. Looks like I get to practice some more.

Bought some 1/4x1-1/4 bar stock and made some additional runners. Had to use a ratchet strap to help bend the old runners back straight. Used a couple rossettes on each side of the crack. Back side of the broke runner got a bead. Then attempted to weld the new runners to the old ones. Go ahead and laugh. Im having a hard time with this.

I plan on making a plate to sandwich to the motor plate. In essence double the thickness. That's another day.

I cut the plate out, but I'm gonna run it to the shop to mill out the slots. That's still in the future so hold on.

For those following, I do have some bad news....
Since I had some time before I can get back on the frame work I decided I'd crack the old girls heart. I figured it's time for an oil change and why not remove the low oil sensor and the governor!

Yes, I've been lucky so to speak, but I did learn that proper bypass can be done safely.
I was going to update my carnage post but it's locked now. I'll just derail here for that

As I pulled the cover off I wonder what the heck these gears were. They weren't on the old cover(the one that went boom!). The gear with the fly weights just floats. The other one has an e clip. I removed both gears and will leave the dowels. They're pressed in well.

As you can see from the last pic, once the gear is allowed to float off the dowel, it is free to roam about the cabin.

So what keeps this from happening?

Well the paddle on the end of the govoner arm. Duh!

The one pic is of the running engine and the second is from the grenade.

The pin is trapped between the ribs in the case. The grenade had enough slop for the paddle to rotate all the way around and it made it's way in the path of the balance shaft. Once it was out of the way the gear fell off into the mixer. It looks from the carnage of the old parts the gear hit something and bound, causing both dowels to break off.
Last pic is the grenade cover. Notice no dowel pins?

This is how I've been running it so far. The gov arm is still attached and the springs are where they're supposed to be.

And now, the bad news.

Do you see it?

Head bolts are trying to pull. Cracking the case.

I'm giving her all she's got Capitan!

Haven't you been following along? It's all I do. Fix the stuff I break! :cheers2:

So I got the plate made and ready to weld in. The engine is going to live. The cracks are in the casting. I guess a projectile head is not in my future.

I'll get back to it in a few days. Gotta go do some real work for a change.:wai:

Here's a pic for your enjoyment.

Got the engine put back together.

Removed the oil sensor and made a plate to cover the hole.
Put a bolt in the governor hole.
The fan shroud bolted to the top plate which is not being put back on. So I cut off the area that connected the 2.

Thinking on cutting half of the fan fins off. Dunno yet. I'll play with the extra one and see.

I figured I'd go overkill and add some mid supports across that long span. I had a suspension the driven unit might hit so I did some measuring and sure enough. When the driven would be open it would interfere so I had to off set the legs. No biggie.

Started to mount the engine and found my bolts are now just a little too short. Arrgh. Gotta hit up the hardware store next time I'm in town.

There goes the thought of getting it back together today.
