6hp temcuseh yerf dog problems??

Hey wats up guys i came to this reputable forum seeking info on what might be wrong with my go cart it is a 6hp engine it was recently starting but would shut off in about 2min now it wont even crank...i pull the string and it eventually makes like a pop noise maybe related to gas....any suggestions?? .....thanks

Sounds like your valves are out of align. My cousin had the same symptoms on his Tecumseh. Take the valve cover off and check.

im in la btw and not too knowledgeble about small engines but the valve cover is where?...

ok thanks and if theyre mis aligned would i need to replace or can i fix those valves myself

where can i find an engine diagram for my 6hp tecumseh to locate parts??

i tried starting it and it just shoots some gas out of the air cleaner hole......

how many screws on the valve cover?...i could not located in the manual

ok i took off the first two which were 10mm the other two are closer to exhaust and are bigger but harder to get to correct?...

Woah now. Don't go pulling it apart when its not the problem. Its a Tecumseh. So its probably just carb problems. So clean the carb up real good. replace the fuel lines and empty and clean the tank. After that She'll be running like a top.

I highly doubt its a valve problem.

ok its behind the air cleaner. you know the primer bulb you push to prime it? thats attached to the carb. Carb is short for carburetor.

there also the bowl attached to the bottom of the carb. one "bolt" hold its on this "bolt" is actually the main jet. take it off and youll see little holes in it. poke through those with some thin wire. make sure there clear.

clean the bowl and put it all back together. the see if it will run. BTW only prime these 5 times max or youll flood it.

both lines go to it. one is fuel in. the other goes to the valve cover.

ok thanks and i will try that it might be flooded since ive tried starting it today.... and the fuel lines are connectec to the carb?

One is the fuel line. the other is a breather hose. the breather hose is the one that goes to the valve cover.

But yeah they both go to the carb.
