So I rebuilt my 5hp briggs, new rings, etc.

The flywheel screen won't clear the shroud. I tried tightening the flywheel more, to a point where the bearings popped out (not smart). Anyway, I can the bearing holder to seal but it keeps wanting to pop out. The flywheel still won't clear. It does, but it scrapes the shroud a little bit!

Any ideas?

also non synthetic oil stinks.

Ya.. but I don't have a torque wrench.

I'm sure its 150 ft/p+...

Any idea why it isn't clearing/>

I've run into this problem often. No biggie. Very little clearance to begin with. Screen or housing is slightly bent. Should be able to fix by just re-bending back into position.
150 ft/lb too high. Should be closer to 30 or 40. Re-check numbers. Please get torque wrench. Engine will never be right without one. Trust me. I've been doing it ....well...forever.

+1. Been there done that. The recoil portion didn't bend, but the shroud itself bent. Happened when my redneck minibike fell onto its shroud.
