Seatbelts and roll cages pair good together. But one without the other might not be such a good thing.

If you do decide to go with the roll cage, you should be able to source a seat belt fairly easily and for cheap. I'm sure Ebay and Amazon has some you could buy, or you could get one from and older vehicle (60's-80's). I've got a '66 Mustang belt holding me in at all times.

I know you guys are worried so I will look it all over with my dad who is a metallurgist and a blacksmith on the side. is there anything in particular I should look for. I know you want me to sell it but this will be a practice kart for me. I will sell bgk the wheels and tires.

Check yellow circle area, the bubbled paint and swollen tube could be a major rust issue, if your dad works with metal he could inspect and possible fix all issues

Nope, steering support is different, supports on the front spindle areas aren't there, pedals are different (yes could have been replaced but doubtful), and looks like manco wheels all around. Only thing they seem to have in common is steering wheels, color and over all style (small, one wheel peel yard kart.) I may be wrong about it being a 400, but relatively certain it's a manco.

Not quite, where's the scrub brakes on that one? Plus, that's a live axle, Rupp if I'm not mistaken.

Just because it's small, red and similar doesn't mean it's the same guys.

I've see that steering wheel on a couple of other brands now. One is my Robron and the others were Yellowjacket. I don't think yours is either.

Get some cheap Harbor Freight tires and gooooo... forget the bigger tires, they'll only give you grief.

I'd think you'd have been here long enough to know that absolutely no part of the hf tires are good for karts. The bearings disintegrate after a few hundred feet, the bolts are pure rustable butter, the tubes leak, and the tires come apart after a few miles. And we're talking serious tread peel. Ask me how I know!

I ran some of the tubes and tires on some real kart rims with good bearings, when I first got my drifter running. About 5 miles later the tread had peeled apart enough to let the tube pop. And as I went around a corner in a drift I over drifted a bit and the kart started to spin around (I was still learning the kart, it was a frame off build). So I let off, and it started to straighten out. But before it could do so, the rim dug in (due to the flat tire), and it flipped the kart. I went out the top of the brush bars, and sprained my wrist when I hit the ground. I still consider myself lucky since I was doing nearly 30mph at the time (I've broken bones at that speed).

Whatever you do, do not use harbor freight tires on a go kart!

I am planing on gps or bmi tires. and 7thofa2nd I am only using a tire that's like an inch bigger than original because that's what I am running on my other kart. never hf tires for me especially on this kart. I might be using a 270 with guv delete.

And as you well know, drifting is a few steps up from just riding around your back yard. Check out some of the cheaper wheels and tires that some reputable online kart and minibike stores are selling, they're the same wheels and tires that Harbor Freight is selling but at 2-3 times the price. Of course they aren't racing tires, they're cheap. That kart doesn't warrant much more. No, I wouldn't recommend HF tires for going nuts.

By all means, do some upgrading all the way around if you're going for speed. An inch taller tire ain't bad, much more and it changes a lot. On corners it'll be easier to roll since your center of gravity is higher.

planing on a roll cage like the ones on the Honda Odyssey fl350. also planing on a live axle. can I get a link to the proper seat? thanks. bgk I don't know if the tires hold air because I don't have an adapter to get to the nipple. the drive tire has and obvious hole in the tube it was not on the kart when I got it.

I've been thinking of instead of paying around 200+ dollars on a live axle kit you could mirror the 1wd setup on the other side and have two engines, idk it's a cool idea probably not practical

If you used a jackshaft for the right engine the answer is most likely.

actually it came with some of the parts for a live axle: sprocket hub, Bearings and housings that connects to the hangers. 35$ for live axle on bmi. so I'm thinking like 100$ max. this evening I started sanding paint and finished welding the break pads. also cleaned every thing with compressed air. pics soon.

Harbor freight wheels? Really? Um..... NOOOOOPE! Not even for a test run, they are not meant for anything above a walking speed, they are absolutely not the same as kart wheels, and there is no argument for them otherwise! Don't listen to anyone who would say the tires you can get at HF for $3.99 on a coupon are suitable, they may look similar to cheaper wheels meant for karts but they are far from the same, I have about 15 of them laying around that didn't work out for previous owners, and not one is even serviceable for a furniture dolly anymore, can provide pics of that proof as well!

Will a gx270 even fit? I'm sure a 212 would suit that thing just fine, my dingo is bigger and heavier with a 212 gov delete and it touches 40mph often, that may be plenty scary on that one.

I believe you but pics would be interesting. also I have a 270 but I don't have a 212. I have a 212 on my other kart and I does 36 guv bypass going to delete this spring.
