5 or 4 second rotary

This has been itchin in the back of my mind for a while now not to bash on v8 guys I love the 5.0 foxbody but weren't you the ones saying imports wouldn't break 7's and they did and raped v8's while doing so and agian weren't you the ones saying that a wankel wouldn't break 6's well we did aussies with the fastest 12a and puerto ricans with the first 6second pass in a rotary right?

So now they're at it again saying that we can't compete against a top fuel dragster well actually we can if there was to be top fuel r26b (4 rotor) or 16x (6 rotor) we'd raped those top fuel v8's too.

Give input don't care if your a v8 guy or rotor head every opinion counts Btw don't take this serious just a conversation

Well you cant compete because there ISN'T a top fuel R26B or 16X. Of course anyone can say "IF I had a fast car I could beat you. But Top Fuel HEMI's already exist. It would take alot of rotary power to keep up with 320 MPH in 4 seconds....

Rotarys are cool, I had an 82~84 RX4 with a 13b in it years ago, I drove the crap out of that thing, :D

I knew one of you were going to say that so I did some reasearch to make it interesting. There is a group of guys on rx8 forums building a 16x to race it agianst a top fuel :p and r26b is a very powerful engine 690hp in n/a form As a hemi has 420bhp right but isn't a hemi a extremely modified engine wouldn't an extremely modified wankel do the same.

Oh yea Tyler, flaco racing in puerto rico is allready hitting high 5's on a 3 rotor and low 5's in a four rotor won't be long till they hit 4's :p

Does Puerto Rico even have any 1/4 mile tracks? There's a big difference between a 5 second 1/8 mile and a 5 second 1/4 mile too, ;) :cool:

Oh yes salinas international raceway 1/4 mile lol lol and I know the difference.

Freaky your right I can name more cons of rotary engines then a v8 but you have to admit for being the same size as a 4banger and being able to compete the with a street v8 tell me it's imposible for a top fuel rotary to ever be able compete

I used to turn my mostly stock 13b about 11~12K, my tach only went to 8K, it only had carb and exhaust work. Some highly modified ones turn well over 15,000 rpms. The thing about rotarys is that they make 3 power pulses for each revolution of each rotor. The 13b is only 80 cubic inches, but has to race in 240 ci classes where they are allowed, the 12a is 70 cubic inches. :cool:

Rickracer has that answer and it's not just rpm dude they make a good amount of power for there size.

right so it's kinda like having two stroke under your hood and each rotor is equivalent to 3 pistons right so a 2 rotor is like a 6cyl a 3rotor is like a 9cyl and a 4rotor is like a 12cyl.

Lol that's they make after market apex and side seals besides the only one that had actual problems with apex seals was the 13b there are a crap load of aussies and puerto ricans making over 800hp on stock seals on 20b's

From my research, the unique power curve of these rotary kart engines seems to really help karts put more power to the ground without wheel spin. The power curve of piston-type race kart engines with similar power levels tend to cause more wheel spin resulting in slower lap times.

I also learned that Norton built a rotary powered race bike back in 1993.

awsome find dude and there are alot of wankel rotary powered vehilces out there rotax I think is the company that came out with a wankel go kart racing engine
