5 hp craftsmen

I got a 5 hp craftsmen today from a friend and he said it ran fine. I got home and put fresh gas in it and started it. It started on the third pull and sounded great. I let it idle for a while then it shut off. When i went to start it again the pull start wouldnt budge. I took the shroud off and tryed to move the flywhhel, and again it wouldnt budge. The engine has plenty of oil so i wouldnt expect it to lock up out of the blue. How would i fix this?

take off the spark plug and see if the cylinder's flooded.

ok i will try that. I dont know much about engines but what do i do if the cylinders flooded?

leave the spark plug out and turn the engines until either the exhost or intake valve is open and let it air out for awhile

I pulled the spark plug and tryed to turn the engine and it still wont move. Is the engine seized. If so is a seized engine rebuildable?

Seized? That'd be kind of weird if it did, seeing as how it had oil in it, unless the lubrication system is messed up somehow, i.e. broken splasher or something. I've never had to fix a seized engine, but some others on here have before, so hope is not lost.

You should drain the engine of its oil and open 'er up. What better way of learning about them other than hands on, diy repairs?

Ahh I can help here. If it's just the piston stuck in there bore you can knock the piston out and hone out the scratches and what not. But most likely the rod journal is screwed and so is all the bushing's where everything rides on. Only way to find out is a engine strip down.
