40 series TC rotation (driven)

After doing some searching and reading, I'm still unclear on this... Can the 40 series TC driven work mounted in either direction? By this I mean being mounted with the spring inboard or outboard.

I see pics of the 20 and 30 series with the spring mounted outboard, but all of the 40 series installations I've seen have shown them inboard. I don't have this option due to clearance issues.

So, will this configuration work ok?

you can mount a series 40 outboard.

but to do so you must change the spring (to a yellow one) of the driver (it's reversly wound)

Also it has to be preloaded the other way around of course
what you have is for an inboard set up.

Btw, how much preload is on that spring... is it going to try to fly apart violently when I remove the snap ring, or is it like just a half turn or something?

As far as a remember it is not that much

Just be aware that the tension is there. When you install the new spring you'll put the tension in the opposite direction.
