So the reason I'm disassembling it is because it's engaging too early and killing my engine. It kills the engine because when it engages it's just idling. So I assume the springs need replaced and maybe more. If it's too much I may just buy a new one.

It had bad rust and I cleaned it up the best I could because I couldn't get it apart. It has pitting now that I can clean further when I get the darn thing apart.

So I'm not sure but it looks like the large welded nut is threaded inside but I can't get it to turn off or anything. I don't know how to hold it down without damaging it. So I started soaking it in pb tonight in hope it may loosen up. The only thing I can do it put a large pair of channel pliers on it and try to hold it and turn it off. I don't know what else to do any help is appreciated thanks.

It does unscrew, I've always used a massive vice to lock the bottom and a massive adjustable wrench to make it happen.

Couldn't manage on my 40, I will give it another go because I am going to lighten the rollers, any heads up blaz (I know I have asked before, but I forgot!)
Do you simply grab the bottom in a vice and get a wrench or socket on the top and turn CCW?

Its right hand thread, it unscrews like you'd expect it to do. I do however use a large vice and a 24" adjustable.

Ok thank you to Blazkowiez I got my TC apart! Now the damage. Just a spring hook on one end broke. It ony kind damaged housing you can see in the pic. So I'm gonna order 3 new springs and 3 spring connectors. At least I'll have the old ones for spares to hold me over while ordering more.

Now after ordering the pieces I'll spend time shining up the tc housing.

^The little bit of damage to the housing I'll just grind or file and sand smooth.^

^Just a little rubbing here.^

Sorry not trying to hijack your thread :p
I took mine apart too today, took one of my dad's 3/4" drive sockets with a massive 't' wrench and an extension bar. Got it finally though :)
A couple of days ago my driver jammed up, no damage internally though- strange?
I will clean everything.

I am going to lighten the rollers on a lathe.
Comet 203648 Heavy rollers @ 128g
Comet 203649 Med @ 97g
Dunno what light are, I would assume around 70g?

Keit1212- Have you ordered new springs yet? If not, would you be up for buying my yellow springs? I would like to change them for reds for higher rpm engagement.
If you have already ordered them, don't worry, I won't bother, I will just lighten the rollers.

Edit:
Blaz, dunno if you could tell me where to lubricate the system, and what with?
Thanks

Yea I ordered when I posted the last pics. I got the red springs coming. I didn't know which to order red or yellow so I chose red since my driven spring is red lol. If I end up needing yellow maybe we can swap.

My engines an 8hp so not sure which is best yet.

well I weighed my rollers and they are the 128g ones. Hopefully I will be ok with the red springs.

Pretty sure thats a 2200rpm engagement. Should be OK, maybe a bit high if you have a stock motor.

Should be 3600rpm. If you decide once the new springs are installed that the engagement is too high, I would be happy to trade. My engine is modded and will rev to around 6k when finished.

If anyone has any interest-
Modded these- down to 94g. Should be around 2300rpm engagement vs stock 1600rpm.
They were case hardened- the tool struggled to get through the first .6mm. Then it cut like butter...
I had to make up a mandrel to get the rollers true.
