this is what it looks like when my engine is running and gas is leaking. i am not making the engine surge that's what it does because of the gas leak. do ya'll still think it's the diaphragm?

Meaning getting a flat surface like glass and putting some lapping compound (Like sand and grease) and move the cover around in it in figure 8 motions for about 5 minutes.

320 grit Clover works for me. I use it for lapping cylinder blocks/heads.

ok i put in new gasket and it ran ok, but had a little jig to it on medium and up throttle. it runs fine at idle. also, i ran my engine for 15 minutes...then it started spitting out of the diaphragm case very big! it was spitting like crazy! i ordered a new diaphragm and it should be here by tomorrow...could a bad diaphragm actually cause all this spitting of fuel out of the carb? it's just crazy. i'm going to post a video in a sec of the little jig that i'm talking about. the fuel mixture is correct also. i've been adjusting at the smallest increments and it still sputters. could this be ralated to the diaphragm?

ok i replaced the diaphragm and it runs great. the only problem is that it's still leaking gas out of that side cover. i'm going to buy a new side cover. sanding it won't help because it's pissing out of the middle of the cover...and it's leaking down the sides so the cover has malfunctioned.

Ok I Got The New Side Cover Today And I Put It On...it Runs A Little Better, However It Doesn't Spit Anymore Out Of The Side, It Just Drewels Out The Bottom Like It Shows In The Video...this Is Getting Really Annoying Seeing I Don't Know What The Problem Is. I Have Already Lost 2 Brand New Gas Tank Gaskets In 2 Days Because They Get Soaked And Rip. I'm Starting To Get Pissed. Someone Please Help Me!

I figured out the problem...for some reason the suction gas pipe was leaking at where it met the carb body...i put some jb weld on it and it's working great! like a real pro now!

you'd think that this has happened to people before, but i figured it out after 2 months on my own! i was looking in professional small engine books, 5 of them to be exact, and it said nothing of the sort with the pick up tube being loose or anything. i posted this on this website also. has this happened to any of you guys before? this thread will be a great troubleshooting, teaching article for briggs flatties. look how long it's gotten!

Help!

i realized on the compression stroke, the exhaust valve opens for no reason, just a little bit, hurting the compression to only 50 psi and the engine won't start because of it. what could be causing this problem? i think the valve is defected or something.

last year the engine was at 50 psi. this year i tried to do a first time start up since last season and it didn't work...then i realized the compression was bad.
