Idk, my kart had a 3.33:1 with 10.5in tires. The clutch lasted like 3 years of driving on flat road.

Dammit I ment high. I get dem confused. Grumble snort. I don't understand how a kart can have bigger tires than mine, and a much higher gear ratio than mine and work at all. Mine is 6:1 with 15" tires and I am thinking about making my gearing lower, because mine will barely go up-hill.

You don't need a CVT off road, but it is NEVER a bad idea. The benefits are excellent. If it's not in the budget, maybe shoot for a lower ratio like Dave has.

Okay, lets try this. Put a tape measure tip to the ground, and tell is what it says is the measurement at the very top of the tire. We need the outside diameter of the tire. 8x11 sounds like a rim size.
ya it is a rim size i'm sorry man, i couldnt tell you what you are wanting to knw cause my cart is at my friends shop. so it wnt even drive like in the grass? i mean i'm still gona test it dnt get me wrong, but the things i'm hearing arent promising. so the answer would be bigger drive sprocket? or just nut up and get a torque converter? i need solutions people

That will theoretically lower top speed. But theory means bugger all if the kart doesn't have the oomph to achieve top speed...
In fact, I recently lowered my ratio by 10% and GAINED top speed! Why? engine lugging at full bore. Big, heavy arse machine with large tires, never reaching it's potential. By lowering the ratio, I reduced the load allowing the engine to spin more freely, and gained a few much-needed RPM.

Then you need a TAV. Remember that 20 off road in a kart feels alot faster. Besides, its much more thrilling, floring your kart and being pushed back in your seat than having a delayed, slow acceleration.

Got a GX340 (11hp) Comet 40 CVT, 17." diameter rear tires, 4.8:1 final. Gov tweaked for extra rev's. #50 chain. Homebrew cherry bomb exhaust. Kart is north of 320lbs dry...

nice toy story that sound like alot of fun(and alot of work), i'd like to weigh mine, i'm just about finish, other then buying that CVT, i'll post pics when i finally do. So i should stay with that 37? or go with 50? sprocket that iS? and do CVTs even use a chain or does the pulleys run to the axle??? i knw thats kind of a rookie question but i've never dealt with them
