Without knowing your tire diameter, all I can do is guess at 5 or 6:1. You can go a little higher with a TAV. The TAV is belt driven, then you'd take a chain from there to the rear axle.
And yeah, it's a scream. I recently instaled a 4-pt racing harness so keep my crazy self from getting tossed on the bumps. I had put in a lap belt- good start, but not enough. Then I put in a shoulder belt from my '01 Montana. Better, but the retract mechanism couldn't handle the abuse and exploded. Enter harness. Way cool. Cheers!

Figure out your tire diameter, than we can tell you what sprocket you need. 50 may still be to small.

With a CVT, your secondary clutch is mounted on a jackshaft, and from there a chain runs to the axle.

I could through in my two cents ... if you dont mind
if your tires are 15 to 18 high (ground to top) then a comet 30 series would work great. set the tention spring in the driven to #3 (more tention) to help with a longer torque time. setting the spring helps the engine deliver torque to the wheels for a longer or shorter period of time when you slam the gas.
This driven section ( larger pully thingy) will be mounted on a jack shaft, also on the jackshaft you could put a 14 tooth #41 sprocket that will then leed ( by chain) to your sprocket 54 tooth #41 on your axle.
If you buy a jackshaft from ebay then most of the time you will get an 12 tooth and a 14 tooth with it depending on who you get it from (read the descipions).
just thought I would through out this option to ya.. good luck

Go to the speed calculator on this site and you'll know your theoretical speed.
Now - high, low - well it all depends on what you are referring to - If we say something
is geared LOW, that means it has a HIGH gear ratio. So your both right.

I ordered a 54 tooth sprocket (54 too much?) what will be the difference between 37 and 54, wont the 54 have more torque but less top end, and backwards with the 37?,....... and I ordered a torque converter!!. next is jackshaft assembly :(

i put the ol tape on her today, and i got 10 1/2 in diameter, top of tire to ground..

Cool, so first off, your gear ratio at the moment (10/37) will give you about 30mph. Now, thats a little high for off road with a centrifugal clutch. 54t will give you 21mph, and will be much better suited for off road.

Those tires are pretty small for off road...

what about with a TAV30 torque converter?

With the same gearing (10/54), and a TAV30, you will go slightly faster. It has a 10% overdrive (so in stead of 21 you would go 23mph). In addition to the overdrive, you can gear it slightly higher, because the TAV acts like an automatic transmission.

Right, right, and the jackshaft has 2 sprockets right? one hooked to TC and the other to driven live axle? should the sprocket going to the live axle be the smaller of the 2 sprockets on jackshaft?

Only one sprocket. Your primary clutch (one of the torque converter pulleys) Mounts to your engine, your secondary clutch (other torque converter pulley) mounts to the jackshaft, a sprocket also mounts to the jackshaft which runs to the rear axle. Yes, smaller sprocket on your jackshaft.

With a TAV, the jackshaft is built in, your just bolt the whole assembly onto the engine, and there is a sprocket that goes to your rear axle.
