yeah i need to replace the idler pulley, when the other belts are on the rod hits them, but a larger pulley would fix the problem.

i probably could do that, i think i may have torque problems even in 1st, smaller tires would be the trick if i can find cheap ones that are skinny enough so they wont hit my frame,

also i cant really find more flat belt tensioners, any ideas of what type of machine i could salvage one from?

just use a hard plastic skateboard wheel you can get a hole skatebaord at walmart for ten bucks or so with them wheels on it. just put better bearings in them the ones they come with suck.

i actually would try that, however your sarcasm is unwanted here.
thats impossible a wheel of that size could not support an axle or have a spoket small enough for it

whats wrong with useing a skate board wheel as a belt tensioner, he just gave you a perfect answer, where is the sarcasm in suggesting you use a skateboard wheel as a belt tensioner?

i thought he meant use the skateboard wheels as my gokart wheels, now that i reread i realize i was wrong,
i'm just trying to go up in diameter, not down, a skateboard wheel wont do the trick =( but maybe a larger similar type of wheel

I'm very impressed!
Been a long time dream of mine to build one. I love the neutral shifter slot. Yes, video please if you can.

For idlers, I used to look at all the ones we had in stock when I worked at an auto parts store, trying to determine which ones might work. You might start there. If you find one that will work either buy it or get a make and model and hit the wrecking yard.

wouldn't it be better to scavenge a few idler pulleys from mower decks? they have lips to make sure the belt stays on the pulley. from a scrap yard, they might be a dollar a piece?

well i can see one major flaw in your design right off the bat. the tentioner needs to be on the bottom side of the belt. as it is now the force of the engine will pull up the tentioner and loosten the belt

that is a very very good point porsche930dude, i know what your saying but with the solution do you mean bottom side of the belts (bellow engine), or inside of the belts?

thank you by the way
