a little while back i got a new kart for $125 its not in the best condition and it definitely looked home made. it had 1 stick of rebar as a roll bar and its so short my 10yrol friend cant sit in it comfortably so it will be lengthened. i cut the rebar off and now im working on making it go. i forgot to take pics as i was going along but ill take some pics of it now i still have a lot to do. so far i bolted a pully to the drive wheel and put that engine on on. i am currently working on a clutch system thats what those springs are.

Mnts of the farthest NE TN you can go
Cut frame, measure I'd of frame, get tubing or solid that slides in, go 1-1/2 × diameter for length of plug per side plus wall thickness.

Example if 1-1/2 × 1/8 tube make slugs 4.625 long, this allows 1/8" gap. Drill a couple 3/8 diameter thru holes in the frame parts. Insert slugs, then plug weld 4 holes, slid other frame end on, leave 1/8 gap, plug weld and then finish off welding gap which will weld all 3 pcs of joint.

Does that make sense? If not I can do a ms paint in morning

so at the moment the clutch system i have it using is a door hinge and some springs to actually tilt the engine, but i think that that moves to much from the engine acceleration so i am going to make a normal style clutch with an arm and a moving pulley. but i there probably wont be any updates for a little while.

I used to ride a cart with the (belt is the clutch) tilt the engine system. AFAIK, that was a production kart from a store like Western Auto.

well i took it back apart bc you would need the springs to be much stronger than if you were just using a tensioner arm like on a snow blower. and also whenever the engine accelerated it would bounce around a lot so i am not going to go with that design.
