2017 - Vintage Predator Kart Build

Hotter than he!! here but I need to get back on this build. So I went out to the shop and got the AC cranked up early this morning.
Anyway back to the build . So I got my pedals cleaned up and installed , got the throttle completely hooked up and working. Also got the brake pedal mounted and made the 5/16'' rod run to the rear axle , I believe I'll go with a band brake .

Still haven't ordered a axle yet so I need to do that tomorrow and I think I'm going to use this sprocket adapter from BMI ....It will let me run the two piece racing kart gears. That should make for a some what easy gearing change.

That's the setup I have. A 72 tooth. Thinking about getting the 64. I'm about 8 miles from BMI. I'm going there today after work.

I like what you've done with the throttle there

New parts came in ... 1'' axle x 45'' long , 1'' sprocket hub , and 1'' lock collars. Brake drum didn't make it yet but I'm going to do a quick mock up and see how all this stuff fits and looks. I had the 62 tooth two piece sprocket on hand .

After looking at some vintage karts on the internet I decided to scratch the drum brake system and build this dual scrub brake system. Probably won't work that great , but it looks like a vintage braking system.

I went to my local sheet metal shop today and had the floor pan cut 57'' x 16'' and got it in 14 gauge.....pretty thick ! Probably wished I had got 16 or 18 gauge after I try to bend this up behind the back of the seat.

Yeah without a break you might have to go with a couple pieces or have a crumpled mess. Or make a couple marks where you want it bent, 1 before 1 after radius, and take it back to them.

Yea I might have to do two pieces , but I really wanted one piece to do it all so no gaps. So I might try the flaming wrench first to see if I can get a uniform bend to the seat.

Do you have lots of C clamps, and vise grips?

Keeping it clamped in place as much as you can, and clamping some angle iron under where you want th long end of the seat pan. More leverage, and the angle iron should keep it nice and strait.

Thanks BM , I do have a lot of clamps and I'm thinking the same way ! I also have a flaming wrench .
Also ordered a 10'' Grant steering wheel from Auto Zone it should be in this morning.

Started early this morning installing this floor pan , and with many vise tongs, c-clamps and vise grips I got this pan cut, trimmed and welded in ! Now my old butt is dragging for sure...but its done.

New steering wheel came in so I got it mounted to.

Toggle/ Kill switch bracket welded on .
